Klonopin - Deppression - will MJ Help?
Hello everyone - been lurking a while and have a question. I'll make it as short as possible.
I started to suffer from major anxiety attacks about 8 years ago. At first I didn't understand what was happening, but after seeing a couple of doctors I was diagnosed with moderate to severe depression. I was prescribed Klonopin (.5mg 4 to 5 times daily). It's been 7yrs and I want this pharmaceutical out of my system. I've made several attempts, have failed miserably each time and I feel lost.
I was wondering if MJ would help me through the wd's of the Klonopin and/or would MJ be a good substitute?
Thanks in advance for any help.Burn12 Reviewed by Burn12 on . Klonopin - Deppression - will MJ Help? Hello everyone - been lurking a while and have a question. I'll make it as short as possible. personally I have switched from many antidepressants and believe I should be prescribed anti-anxiety medication
The MJ helps me more with my depression than my anxiety but some say it helps:thumbsup:

Of course. Cannabis has antidepressant-like effects, as well as, anti-anxiolytic.
Don't take my word for it, if you don't want to. You can research at PubMed.

Klonopins are benzodiazapems as you may know and benzos are highly addicitive. The withdrawal is pure hell, i know and that is probably why your abstinence from them has been unsuccessful. Talk to your doctor about what you can take for the withdrawal and you dont have to tell him you will use marijuana in place if your not in a medical state.

If you have anxiety...stay away from sativa strains and stick with indica varieties if possible..some sativa's are very "up" and can cause really bad panic attacks if you are prone to them already...just my advice on this matter. And yes, weed can be a much safer and more effective alternative to the zombie meds made in a lab..be very careful when stopping any presciption your body has become accustomed to taking for many years..withdrawals can be very very severe. Guess what natural drug is 100x safer?

agree with everyone, if you have smoked marijuana before you can easily judge your self if it helps. Know one knows you better then you. I would stay away from strong sativa strains, or try it and see how you react. My wife is manic depress and she can not take strong indicas because she panics and bad anxiety attack because she thinks she can move somtimes cause the body high is too strong. So get a good hybrid
