Paranoid pig shoots twice, kills innocent newlywed

Calif. man killed by police in mistaken identity

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) â?? A newlywed killed by police after he stepped outside his home to confront suspected burglars was shot in a case of mistaken identity, police said.

Julian Alexander died after being shot twice in the chest by a police officer who was chasing four burglary suspects early Tuesday morning.

Police Chief John Welter said the officer ran into Alexander, mistook him for one of the four juvenile suspects and shot him.

"The last thing we ever want to do, No. 1, (is) take somebody's life," he said. "And we certainly don't want to take the life of someone who is mistakenly believed to be involved in some criminal activity."

"He was a good kid, trying to protect his house," said Alexander's mother-in-law Michelle Mooney. "And the police, instead of asking questions, they just shot first. Somebody has to be held responsible for this."

Welter would not release the officer's name, but said he was a 10-year veteran of the department. The officer was placed on paid leave pending an investigation.

"It's mistaken identity, but that doesn't bring my son back," said Alexander's father Jerry.

He said Alexander got married last weekend and his 19-year-old wife is expecting a baby in December.

Alexander's wife said she heard the gunshots and tried to go into the yard, but the officer told her to stay inside. From the window they saw Alexander handcuffed and bleeding in the front yard.

Paramedics treated him at the scene and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The four burglary suspects were detained and interviewed, but no arrests were made.

Welter said investigators would interview the officer to determine what commands he gave to Alexander before he fired. Investigations will be conducted by the FBI, the Orange County Office of Independent Review and the district attorney's office, Welter said.

This kind of crap only happens when u give the green light to a police officer that he can do what he wants if he "thinks" its the right thing to do.

I very much would prefer a robocop instead of human cops, a cop that cant die and thus doesnt think on instinct, does not act out of fear

They will review, my ass, they always do these reviews and totally back their brothers up, justified shooting, officer thought his life was in danger blah blah blah

I always wonder how can someone who does such a thing, even in the most accidental way just live normally afterwards

its hard for me to stick with moderation about cops, i really try to keep myself unbiased, and for fact there are good folks (not too many) among them, but no matter how hard i try no to make a sweeping generalization, the pigs like this "veteran" piece of shit sway me that way, the way of i fuckin hate pigs

when u look into a cops mind, they already know most people they deal with view them that way... it needs a pretty messed up mentality to be a cop knowing how its gonna look like

I sometimes wonder, ok they r tough on "crime" (whatever they mean by crime, including a blazing a joint) WTF does anyone do for crime prevention other than toughing up on it, other than punishment as the only means of deterrence.

I think that works much better if we actually listen to our old proverbs:
    Prevention is better than cure

98% of the cops to me are pigs like him, and them 2% usually opt out of force sometime during their service, go to higher ranks not directly involved with street situation, or just get desk jobs

Damn, this is some sad stuff. I hate how this kind of stuff happens all the time.

    Police = greater power.

"With great power comes great responsibility."

Too bad the majority of cops don't know how to use the power that they have.

During their careers, the vast majority of cops never fire their weapons at anyone, and these types of accidents are extremely rare. If there were no police, robberies, murder and mayhem would be many times more prevalent. The main problem is the drug laws, which the police have a duty to enforce.

As rare as they may be. Rare is to Often!!! this is why we should all be allowed to bear arms, people dont break the law or hurt people if they might be caring a gun. As for cops they dont need this much power or the green light. cops need not put them self or be allowed to put them self in a situation were innocent lives could be taken. EX. car chases, entering building with out know whats going on inside,or chasing someone and night where anyone could be around the corner. Shit like this pisses me off so much, I fucking hate the police! Abouse of power plain and simple...

Another sad story. I really think its getting to be time to unarm our police force. Its gotten to the point where even a legal law abiding citizen is afraid to even talk with a cop. With rampant abuse of steroids by cops, these things will keep happening.
