yeah ive watched a few times and like the 4th time i saw it i was like BORING. most of these popular movies are actually pretty boring, like : Dazed and Confused (fucking boring as shit!), Requiem for a dream (twice as boring), How High (fucking retarded) and shit like that. the only movie i have seen with good replay value is Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure but even that gets boring after the 10th time.
sometimes at night, i touch myself......and giggle.

Yeah, same here, actually. First time I saw it I was less than impressed.

I loved Donnie Darko straight away, though. Definitely one of my top favorites.

Lol...at least Fear and Loathing is an original look on something. Time travel is overplayed and Donnie Darko isn't even a new look on it. You can only hear a person's theory on time before it gets played out and old. Gonzo journalism, however, is a brand new style, and anything but run of the mill. Fear and Loathing was genius, Donnie Darko was an obsession of pseudo-intellectual emo kids. Sorry.

I happened to think Donnie Darko was a good original take on the usual "why me" angst type teenager flicks. Essentially because Donnie was actually "chosen." Also, a sense of humor can't hurt.

And gonzo journalism was new when Hunter Thompson started writing it, not in 1998 when it the movie came out. I think the movie is a good translation of the book to film, though. Just not a great film on its own, but rather as a supplement to the book.

I actually think Donnie Darko was a wonderful movie. Not because of any 'points' that it made, but because it was a fun movie. In fact, I'm gonna go smoke a bowl, a couple cigarettes, and watch it. ^.^
