To second this question, does anyone have ideas in using dry ice for co2 as well as a yeast and sugar mix or even seltzer water? are all good souces of supplemental co2 for small grows? Ive seen and read many applications of these co2 sources but would like to hear what the experts have to say on this topic..know of any other simple, cheap and easy co2 sources for small grows?

It suprises me that nobody has responding to this thread...id assume most growers on this site would use CO2 as even an idiot knows its contribution to plant growth..perhaps people just dont want to share their knowledge. o well, thats why we experiment!

Yes. I have resisted responding because I don't want to share my knowledge.
It could be because I was busy. Or had the flu. Or both.
Or because CO2 is the last thing you should be worrying about if you are a noobie. The atmosphere has more than enough for your plants as long as your ventilation doesn't suck. Concentrate on getting everything else perfect before you fuss with CO2- read up on the concept of the 'limiting factor'...
CO2 tank- Tubing only needs one hole- the one in the end. Tape it to your oscillating fan that you already have in your grow room. Read Rhizome's growroom setup sticky. It's all explained clearly, with the volume/leak time/pressure calculation.
Dry ice- Get a heavy duty large plastic cooler. Drill a few 1/4" holes in the lid. Put the dry ice iin the cooler. When it is gone, put more dry ice in the cooler.
Vinegar/baking soda- Get a gallon of distilled vinegar. Take a fridge lemonade dispenser with a spigot built in, and rig it so it drips just a few drops per minute. Put the vinegar in it and put it on a shelf. Below it, take a stainless steel stock pot and put a mound of baking soda on the bottom. Put it under the vinegar. When either the vinegar or the baking soda run out, replace them.

You can run higher temperatures with CO2 however not into the 90's. You will need an external source of cooling. Which is why CO2 setups are so difficult to maintain; not to mention the initial start up costs.
But again even an idiot would know that. Sorry to waste your time :hippy:
If it seems like my post is sarcastic that is because it is. Search!!!

I agree with Dai. My hydro guy ( who IS an expert btw) says unless you can get the numbers up to 1500 and beyond (which requires a sealed room I believe) you can play with your seltzer and baking soda etc etc etc all you want and it won't make much difference.
Dai...thanks, we needed that. It never ceases to amaze me how many people not only think....but EXPECT the rest of the world to immediately hop-to when they have an issue.....but can't be bothered to do the work themselves.

Nothing i posted was sarcasm. I meant it all. If you dont know that CO2 increases photosynthesis rate than id call you an idiot. nothing sarcastic about that. The only insult i had was directed toward you specifically for being such a dick with the search button talk. If you re read my first post i wasnt asking about the use of CO2 i was asking about how people have their systems set up and what works for them and alternatives people have come up with besides valve systems that they've seen success in, something you cant always find with a search engine. This forum to me is much better than a search button" because you have the ability to discuss and learn from others who have tried it or have more experience with it first hand. A true resource. If its a waste of your time to comment and you think i didnt do enough initial research then just pass over it..no big deal. no hard feelings here. peace and good growing.
