I am thinking about starting to grown a few plants for personal consumption and have no clue where to sart i have plans to build a rubber mail growing box i got off this site and thats it can anyone help please?:jointsmile:

Just start reading post. There are some at the top of each page that are there for poeple to start off with. You have to do some looking cuz there is so much to learn but just reading you will get the info to get started. Thatas what I did :thumbsup:

okay, you mean rubbermaid, right? that's a start. you want cheap? get an air stone ($2), an air pump ($15 @ walmart), quarter inch flexible tubing ($.5 a ft), and a few CFL (compact flurescent lights) at Home Depot (4 pack is about $15 for 23W bulbs), but i recomment going with a bigger light if you can afford it. as for nutrients, you've got options. oh right, and a bag of some LECA stones (expanded clay pellets) or some rockwool cubes for a growing medium. you'll need to go to the hydro store for the growing medium. real simple, now go for it, and don't forget to do some research! cheers.

ok so is what your telling me to grow hydro or to just use clay pellets as medium in soil growing? sorry i feel stupid cause i barely know shit about this stuff.

Ok, start by reading the stickies at the top of the Basic Growing forum. Then go to the Growing FAQ and read everything there. Then read all the stickies at the top of all the other growing forums here. Once you've done that, you'll hopefully have enough information to know how to ask an intelligent question.

From there, I recommend creating a hypothetical garden. List out all the supplies you think you might need; create a plan for making a grow area; plan out how you think the grow should go and how you think you would run it. Once you've got your plan drawn up, post it here and get some feedback from the experienced growers.

Once you've got a good plan in place, buy some seeds and go to town.
