I'm glad this silliness will be over soon. I mean come on - we are discussing a rollback of unaffordable tax cuts for the rich that the Bush administration put into effect. We aren't talking about drastic NEW taxes - and how has the trickle down stimulus effect worked out so far? The worst economy since the great depression. And let's think back (Yea, Yea, I know we like to keep our attention span as short as possible in American politics) to what exactly the economy looked like during the Clinton administration? Oh yea - pretty damn good by any standard - let alone compared to the Bush economy!

So yea, keep telling us how a 3% increase in taxes on those making over a quarter-million a year is going to destroy us all. Sure.

Guess what folks: Reganomics is a failed ideology! W's dad was right - it's voodoo economics - the economy is fueled by consumer spending, and those who benefit from having roads for employees and customers to drive, those who benefit from having an educated workforce, in short every business owner in this country who happens to be bringing in over a quarter million a year can afford to contribute 3% more of their net income to paying their fair share.

Our failure to invest in our country has put us in great danger - we have abandoned our infrastructure, we have driven up a national debt so astronomical that the world bank declared the United States insolvent several years ago. The wealth gap continues to rise, as does the cost of a college education.

Oh, and under what administration did the largest tax increase since WWII occur? Give up? It was the George H.W. Bush administration - A.k.a. W's Dad. Why? Because it was a necessary correction to the drastic and expensive tax cuts for the rich perpetrated by Regan.

And what happened during the Regan administration? The national debt quadrupled - that's what.

Want to create more jobs? Here's a few ideas: make education more affordable. Everyone benefits from having the best educated and best trained workforce possible. Provide affordable health care to provide preventative care to every citizen before they walk (if able) into emergency rooms with conditions that could have been prevented - how much does employee downtime cost employers? How much do people cut back on their discretionary spending when they are decimated by catastrophic health expenses - what effect do you think that has on our economy?

Don't just keep repeating the same old silly lines! "If you raise taxes on the rich it will only raise unemployment!" Bullshit - look at our history and you'll see that that isn't the case. "It will cause massive inflation when these costs are passed on to consumers" Wrong again. Anyone else happen to remember the 1990's? Anyone?
IAmKowalski Reviewed by IAmKowalski on . Greedy bastards. If I made over $250,000 a year I would GLADLY pay more taxes in order to help people out (people like myself in my current situation, I am a hard working American after all) with getting more of the money that THEY earned. I guess it's hard for people to realize this unless they have lived a life where they actually have to struggle to get anywhere. How about we keep doing what we are doing? We don't need any help. Money for school? No thank you. Less taxes? Nah, I like working hard just to Rating: 5
