are they worth using?

iv got HID lights that came of my bike, there 8000K, & make my CFL's look cack! lol

so should i use it? its only one....so far, but do have another tho they do give off some heat, so got a fan blowing on it, temp is 78F ish & humidity is 51% ish

all sound ok to you lot?

would like to know more about HID growing cause i cant find much on here, its all LED/CFL/HPS

HSP is a kind of HID. that is the type of bulb. You want to use HPS bulbs for flowering and MH for Veg. How many watts is the HID you Have? How many plants?

erm.....i dunno lol

im still new to it all really (even tho YEARS ago few of us done it so blatant & they kinda grew lol)

there 7000K car HID's, dont know what exact ones but heres pic of exact one the kit costs new $461, so not cheap (tho i didnt pay anywhere near that )


only 1 tiny seedling come through, so one at the mo, & another still under soil (seperate pot)

certainly not a pro setup, with 1 long tube'd flouresent light & 3 weak CFL's with couple of mirrors round them for reflection(havent got mylar etc) but temp & humidity seems to be right dont it? (75-80F & 50-55% humidity)

Those are most likely 70-150w...H7s I believe. Its all about lumens and temp man. Those bitches throw out MAD lumens, Im a bike gear head, know the bulbs. Just not thinkin that at 8000k they will do much for a plant. You want around 5500K for veg, and 25-2700k for flower.

ones on bike are 8000K's H4's, but one im saying i'll use is 7000K H1

so abit whiter, & they do look ULTRA CRISP compaired to my other (crap) lights (cant see shit after i look at them anyway lol)

so what roughly are the lumens on these you reckon?

I found the site for yours, and all it said was that they had 3-4 times the lumen output as their 55w halogen counterpart.
So check this out, and whichever one yours is the replacement of, and multiply by 3 or 4. My guess is your probably getting around 5500 lumen with it.

But I honestly dont know. Never seen someone try to grow with em. Might as well try if your not in a position to get a HPS. Im all about experimentation!:greenthumb:

box i got here has a chart for 6000K saying....

bulb wattage -12v 35w
max bright - 202,500cd
lumen - 3.200lm
colour temp - 6000k (mine 7000K)
light color - pure white (mine a 1000K above pure white)
life - 3,000hrs

so would 7000K up the lumens from the 6000K pure white or not?

that good enough for veg stage?

then grab a HPS 600W'er for flowering stage?
