    My seedlings are dying

Yes i just started growing about a month ago.

My seedlings started to hatch and were looking quite health when all of a sudden the started to wither up. They were planted in a miricle grow soil i have given them 18 hours of light with 6 hours of total darkness. When i pulled one up the roots looked small and bright white yet the stem was nice and firm. I watered them about once a week. the temp has been a steady 72-75 degrees. All of my seedling sprout and grew so fast that i had such encouragement for the future.

Possibly overwatered. Thats usually the most common mistake with seeds or clones. Just spray with a bottle till they are up a couple inches and looking healthy. It sounds like the roots were fine so just put it back in the dirt and mist for a week or 2.

What kinda MG did you use? Most of them have ferts in them and that could hurt them. You want to start with a seed starter soil or coco. I have started my in jiffy peat palets that you can get at Lowes or HD. I know allot of others use rapid rooters but they cost allot more.

You have to watch MiracleGro Soil.. I wouldnt recommend it unless its the OrganicMiracleGro that seems to work real well . Ive seen the results!! A lot of guys use that.. But the premixed miracle grow with ferts( those little yellow balls) can definately fry your seedlings.. I just prefer organic soil mixtures with lots of earthwormcastings and batguano to feed your plants naturally. d:rastasmoke:

This is the Miracle-Gro I used "Miracle-Gro® Seed Starting Potting Mix "

The seeds came up nicely. and then they would not move past growing more than 4 leaves. They would stop there and then begin to have the leaves shrivel and die. I tried moistening the leaves with a spray bottle and then the leaves started curling up instead of down.

How fast didt they "kick off?"

What size pots are they in? Are you sure they didn't just outgrow the soil and need more nutes? That's why I ask about the size of your pots.

The other thought is that you need to check the ph of the water you are using and make sure it's between 6.2-6.8.

My I checked my ph and it was fine. also And i also checked the nit level and postasium and phos and all good. They started growing in large cups with holes cut from the bottom. It took them about 2 weeks to die.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean when you say everything is "all good" as far a nute levels in your soil. There shouldn't be ANY nutes in your soil so my very first guess would be to change your soil. Someone above suggested overnute and or/too hot fertilizer and I agree. And I assume that again....by "fine" you mean that both your source water and your soil runoff are between 62-6.8. If anything is out of those ranges I would NOT consider it "fine."

I like to start my seedlings in rapid rooters, then once they reach the size of the one in your photo (a few days) I transplant them into Fox Farms Happy Frog in 4 inch pots for about 10-14 days. And mine do fine that way so I offer you the same option.

no... he said hes watering once a week. and besides u dont want to create extra humidity with a spray.. get a ketup bottle or something, pop a hole in the cap of a water bottle, and gently squeeze a little water on them, not to soak them but to moisten the area... if u soak them, the soil can get really dense and pretty much halt root growth. make sure the pots have good drainage, and a cirulating fan and relatively low humidity, 30-55%
