Well... i think you should take a "vacation" at an isolated place, where you HAD to stay away from TVs, newspapers, internet and whatever, so you could remember that its possible to live (rather well) without any news. (In fact, news are more harmful than beneficial to us... your addiction shows it very well...)

Also, i would strongly recommend you to read a book called "The Black Swan" by Nassim Taleb. The book talks about the so-called black swans, events completly unforeseen and that causes heavy (and unpredicted) consequences. After reading it you would re-think the way you see the news, and their uselessness to understand (or try to predict) the future (or even the present). The chaos is the only rule, man...
