Lights on 24/7
Im sure there is a post for this but i didnt see it and apologize if there is one
Ok so i have my lights on now for 16 hours then off for 8
Is there any problems with switching it to be on for 24(and is 24 hours 2 much do they need darkness)
My plants are about 2 weeks old and im using 3 fluro tubs about 2 inches away, i will have a 400watt hps light tomarrow, and plan on switching the fluros for the hps.stoned88911 Reviewed by stoned88911 on . any change in photoperiod causes stress on the plant. stress means increased risk of hermies, among other problems. keep it on what you have, or at least gradually increase the light cycle. maybe up the light by 1 hour every week. and no 24 hours of light is not too much unless you start having heat stress/damage.

i believe justanotherbozo was correct in saying that 16 hours is not enough.
You could try putting it on 24/7 right away, and stick to that. I personally had my 400w hps on 20/4, and it worked out well for me. 18/6 would be good too, and probably the least amount of stress at this point. just dont switch the cycles too much, find the one that you think is best and keep it that way til flowering.99% of the growing info you need can be found here: Cdot grow guide and FAQs

I prefer 18/6.... it's suggested (not proven to my knowledge) that you get better root growth during dark periods. In addition to that it's not such a shock to the plant when you change from 18/6 to 12/12 as opposed to going from 24/0 to 12/12.
That's my opinion anyway; but either way.. 24/0 and 18/6 are both prove to work. Whichever you use is your own personal preference.
I choose 18/6 just because I'm a cheap ass and I like to save electricity.

I veg under 24/0 for a couple reasons- access at all hours of the day, stable temps, and when the plant goes into flower it is the first darkness it has ever seen.
I would not go 21/3. That is a non standard time and I don't have enough data to say whether it would be acceptable.
