Prospectful grower with a few questions
Hello there, I've been thinking about growing for a very long time and I think I'm finally going to invest in the equipment and time to do it =D. But before I plan I have quite a few questions. And yes I did look search the forums quite a lot before I asked you guys.
Lights -
Is there a substantial difference in the electricity costs between a 400 watt hps and a 600 watt hps? And what are the appropriate dimensions for 400 watt and 600 watt hps flowering grow spaces. Also are MH lights vastly superior to CFL for the vegetative stage?
Strains-
What are some ideal strains for a first time grower? I am specifically looking for a plant that has a decent yield, great high, easy to grow, and is compatible with SOG method...I know these are pretty high standards, but I want to make my first grow as nice as possible. I slightly prefer hybrids over indicas, and indicas over sativas. However, I am open to all strain suggestions. And I absolutely love Mr. Nice guy strains.
Finally, is SOG method an ok method for a beginner to try?schoolglue Reviewed by schoolglue on . Lights- Calculate based on the formula in my noob instructions sticky. Watts, time on, your kWh rate.
MH is vastly superior but unless you are flowering under at least 600w HPS, using one for veg is likely to be overkill. Totally dependent upon your grow style and how many mothers you keep. If you keep a significant genetic library, you definitely want a MH for them.
Strains an SOG- Good choice for a style. SOG is efficient. Try Hindu Kush or Papaya for big yielding SOG strains that are easy to grow.

by nirvana,
Also another to look into would be top44 by them, finishes real early (around 44 days) indica, and doesnt branch much making it a good main cola SOG plant,
Nuke this if you will admins but this is a link to one of your sponsors
Cannabis seeds straight from the breeder/seedbank NIRVANA - High Quality Hemp Seed - Indica Sativa Feminized Marijuana seeds. <----- This is where papaya hindu kush and top44 can be located
