There are some oil companies who would love to start drilling in Alaska, hence all the talk in the McCain/Palin campaigns about drilling on American soil/offshore.

It is sad for me to think that America will once again be run by the big corporations. I don't know much about Obama, but it wouldn't surprise me if he also had someone(corporate America) stuffing his pockets (in addition to the alleged terrorists)...

One more thing, a little off topic, but I read an article online which claimed Alaska to have more oil than Saudi Arabia, better quality too! This was found in the 1970's, but shut down by the government... This much oil would definitely lower the market prices, lowering profits for the oil companies.
