Palin and Big Oil... Connection? I think so!

Firstly, I must admit that I am not that politically active, and only view it from the side from time to time. After living in America for 17 years, I left to return to my home country, but still have family in the states, so I like to see whats going on over there...

Now to the point. Bush was the governor of Texas before being president. There is a lot of oil in Texas. Palin is the governor of Alaska. There is a lot of oil in Alaska. Both are complete idiots and have no idea about how to run a country. Coincidence? I think not...

There are some oil companies who would love to start drilling in Alaska, hence all the talk in the McCain/Palin campaigns about drilling on American soil/offshore.

It is sad for me to think that America will once again be run by the big corporations. I don't know much about Obama, but it wouldn't surprise me if he also had someone(corporate America) stuffing his pockets (in addition to the alleged terrorists)...

One more thing, a little off topic, but I read an article online which claimed Alaska to have more oil than Saudi Arabia, better quality too! This was found in the 1970's, but shut down by the government... This much oil would definitely lower the market prices, lowering profits for the oil companies. Here is the article: Corrupt government, conspiracy, new world order, no future.
I am not saying I believe it to be true, but it wouldn't surprise me, AT ALL.

for someone who isn't really interested in politics and who doesn't even live
here in the US, you sure do have some nasty things to say.

maybe you should do some research before spewing the Democratic pap that
    you so obviously believe.

and maybe, you could try, if you want to involve yourself in the discussion,
you could try disagreeing on the issues rather than just being insulting.

you obviously don't know much about American politics if you think an idiot
can rise to the level that Bush and Palin have achieved.

who do you think it is that keeps that oil in the ground? surely not the oil companies, who have been screaming to open new drilling sites on u.s. soil for decades, nor is it the few remaining vestiges of conservatism in our government, that are constantly being accused of catering to "big oil". do you honestly think that oil company profits would go down if they could bypass opec's stranglehold on on oil prices? it is the liberal establishment, bowing to the environmental lobby, that keeps us at the mercy of foreign oil sources. even though those sites could be drilled safely, with little chance of disastrous spills and environmental damage, the liberal elite would rather see our nation's people held hostage by speculation and foreign governments than risk alienating the environmentalist power base.

You, sir, just need to not speak anymore, until given directives or have a valid point to spew.

First off: Not Democratic pap, but a valid question from an interested party. As he doesn't live here, I wouldn't be so damn quick to label him with an AMERICAN party name.

Second: LOL. Ever post I've seen from you the past two days at least is strictly insulting and essentially pointless, mostly just bashing of Democrats and Liberals with standard talking points, nothing special there.

Lastly: It seems like he knows much more about American politics because he's AWARE of the fact that somehow, you can be president but a complete dumbass at the same time, a la GWB and now (hopefully not) Sarah Palin. Intelligence is not conducive to political success. Sorry, it's just not.

Anywho, that's what I think of YOUR ludicrous post.

Well its nice to see the different viewpoints of people... I try not to believe the first thing I hear, but rather bring it up in discussion with others.

About the article, I thinks its nonsense, but to answer the hypothetical question, "who do you think is keeping that oil in the ground", I don't think the environmentalists could have that big of a voice in the matter. The conspiracy-theorist in me just wanted to share that little article with you.

Also, I did not find my words to be that nasty, more realistic... And Bush? Are you kidding me? I actually lived in the U.S. for 6 of those years, before the housing and economic crisis, and can say that IN MY OPINION, he is puppet, and not even a good one at that. And Palin? "Gosh Darn It!" It doesn't take smarts to get into office in America, it takes money, and friends.

I'd have to say GWB is not a dumbass, although I don't particularly like him as president. He is definitely a poor speaker; very poor LOL. However he does have decent foreign policy experience; he tried to reform Fannie and Freddie in time and time again do to accounting errors and the fact that they were both getting too large, his tax cuts at the time they were implemented did help to spur the economy, the first stimulus package came at the right time (although the second stimulus package was useless.. and now it seems that people just throw stimulus packages out there as political moves "What's that.. here's some money; now vote for us" a la Nancy Pelosi). His domestic policies have not been great.

And his reaction to 9/11 was spot on; although he dropped the ball by going into Iraq before demanteling Al Queda and capturing Osama Bin Laden. Which may be moot anyway since The Taliban has denounced their association with Al Queda, and is working with the Afghan government with the King of Saudi Arabia as a moderator/intermediary for negotiations.

Has Bush made a number of bad decisions and obviously weaker in some areas then others. DEFINITELY!! Is he the best president ever, definitely NOT... is he a dumbass; I'd have to say no.

Everyone seems to forget that during his first term of president he had approval ratings above 70%.

I'm not stupid, but then again I wasn't super fond of him during his first term either.. I also didn't hate him; and I'd like to believe that Americans weren't stupid for the first 4 years he was in office and suddenly got intelligent. <shrug>

Sadly that was just because of 9/11, and "getting those terrorist killers"

    - goddamn shame about it...we had a federal election in canada yesterday...one of the attack ads from the conservative party portrayed the liberal leader in front of a blackboard and dismissed him as a professor, like that was a bad thing...before entering public service, the liberal leader was a professor of political science

It's not a bad thing.. seems like a weak point of attack from the conservative base. Can you find the video on youtube? I'd be interested in seeing it.
