difference between white and black seeds?

So my dad gave me a bunch of seeds he has from over the years b/c we're going to start growing, and most of them are dark but some are white. Is there a big difference in the quality of the bud if the seeds are a lighter or darker color?:wtf::wtf:

There's no difference in the quality of buds, but the white seeds only have like a 75% chance to germ. so use the dark ones first.

    WTF?
    No.
White seeds have almost NO chance of germination because they are nowhere near ripe. If they do manage to produce a viable sprout, it will be weak and sickly.

Yeah that's a lot closer. You get down to 0% germ rate when the seeds appear not only white, but also misshapen- those have not even had enough time to develop, much less ripen. Once you see some striping start to appear on the seeds, you get into some germination, and prime seeds are fat, glossy, tan to brown, and have varied degrees of dark brown to black stripes on them.

Most of the seeds have dark stripes, which is good
I guess I'll just throw the white ones out .
If I leave them for like another few years will the eventually ripen? at least it was just a few that were white

No. Ripening occurs while the seed is still attached to the plant. Seeds need to be on the plant MINIMUM 4 weeks live and can ripen a little more during drying, but if you really care about them they need a solid 5 weeks on a living plant to ripen.
