Actually, a lot of studies show that your beloved America has one of the worst schooling systems in the developped world, and that all the kids that emerge out of it are a lot dumber than kids from other countries.

As for the rest of the crap you wrote, it's like saying my dad can kick your dad's butt. Wow. It's been, what, almost 4 years since 9/11, and you still can't find Osama... You successfully invaded Iraq... What a feat, what a demonstration of the amazing force that is the American army!

Well when I said this nation is the smartest I was obiously reffering to the people here, we have a good educational system..almost too good (its basically now a requirement to go to college if you want a decent job) Japan may be up there as well, but their all into the entertainment aspect of things, and focus very little on practical needs. Look at all the great things that have came out of this country, Cars, Internet, Electricity..etc.

When I say we're the best I'm not trying to put down other nations, rather expressing my love for the nation I love in..Maybe that makes me an ass.. but at least I'm not an ingreatful spoiled bitch.

Just because we can kick anyones ass, doesnt mean we should..yeah the vietnam war was hella lame.

Of course, I didn't even add all the stupid labels that people must belong to. According to him, each and every one of us has to display our colors on our sleeves, or else we're weenies. Hey man-at least I'm consistant..as for Bush..I don't approve of everything he does..but at least he understands-that we can only achieve Peace..through strength and spreading the flames of Freedom..already,it's resulted in a major change in the middle-east,women can now vote in Iraq and Afghanistan,and little girls and women,no longer have to fear the rape rooms of saddam and sons,anymore. This thread is so frustrating. I was simply saying that it isn't healthy to be nationalistic. You'll never hear me going around saying that my country is better than any other country, because I don't believe it be so.. I also don't believe that any country is better than any other country.

That is ridiculous. Yes, maybe that was what our country was founded on. Your country was founded on slavery. What's your point? Your country does not believe in slavery any more than my country believes in the sanctity or divinity of the royal family. To most of the country, the royal family is meaningless - they are simply nothing more than tradition. Maybe the royal family do believe themselves to be superior to everyone else, but I guarantee you that George Bush does, too.

The reason why you brought the royal family in to the conversation still eludes me. I was stating that I don't believe nationalism is right, and that people should not claim any country (or race, sexuality, colour or religion either) is better than any other country, because this kind of attitude breeds hate and conflict. Surely you can't disagree with that? And even if you disagree, what do the royal family have to do with anything?

While I will agree that pride is unhealthy, loving the land you were born and raised in should be natural if it is a free an open society. IMHO America is the most free and open society of the modern world.

All societies have their positives and negatives but obviously the American model is working. Just because you disagree with the personality of one individual doesn't meen you should turn your nose up at the whole enchilada, because it works.

Love it or leave it, people have been dying because they beleive in it for two hundred+ years to include today. The sacrifices of those individuals allows people to have the freedoms they enjoy today.

I don't agree with everything this particular government stands for (legalize pot), but I am not going to be a little bitch and criticise them every step of the way.

I brought royalty into the question,because if you believe that they are superior to you or if you git on bended knee,before them..then you are not suitable material for being an American. When you say that nationalism is wrong,it makes me think that you have no resolve to defend your country and fellow citizens,from those who desire to take away your freedom.

I apologize to all of those from the UK,no one likes being told,that they are kissing someone's behind,and I was wrong for saying that..I'll try and be more mindful in the future.

I have to say i'm impressed with your sudden compassion and respect in argument Torog. I was offended by your royal family comment (the queen can kiss MY behind for all I care) but seeing as you apologised, it's all good mate!

They were among the first to use computers (go IBM!), synthetic oil, better radar, methamphetamine, heroin and aspirin (Bayer pharms), a gun that could be shot around corners.
You say Americans invented cars? Germans invented the first practicle internal combustion engine, motorcycle. They also designed the first freely programmable computer.
For you to give America and america alone such credit is absurd, all technological advancements were the result of many nations, many minds of different countries and even more who helped to improve what those before them started.
