More of a worry than a problem
I bought some seeds from Nirvana Shop and I germinated them at least i think, this is my first grow ever and I am just nervous things wont go right . I've read and watched videos on how to germinate but I still dont think I did it properly. I went with the seeds submerged in water on wednesday 10/8/08 and 5 of the 5 popped I guess the next twenty or so hrs. The roots on all of them except one of them which was just a little bigger could of been no bigger that about 3mm long. I didn't think they were long enough so i left them in until friday 10/10/08 and they didn't get much bigger. I assumed they were fine so planted them on 10/10/08. My question is by leaving them in the water overnight into friday did I drown the seeds since they didn't get any longer? My second question is if they were fine did I plant them to early and should I just start the rest. Also I have a pretty good lighting system and ventalation if they are find how does it usually take for them to sprout?

u shoulda planted them right when they germinated, after they germinated you left them submerged in water for an extra day basically drowning them, maybe you damaged the seeds

More of a worry than a problem
Im not a grower but what all of my friends/med growers are starting to think the best germ rates come from just planting the seed in rockwool or rapid rooter plugs in a tray w/ reservoir & humidity dome w/ a heat pad under the whole set up. Everyone has been getting near 100% or 0% depending on strain and where it came from.
The NL that I posted about below all surfaced in under 36 hours! She planted them all upside down though, lol.
It worked fine however. The only benefit to paper towel germinating from what I understand (and I look forward to knowing more) is knowing that the seeds are good.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I did talk to a friend that works at Nursery and he said I should be fine but there is a possibility like you said they could have drowned. I was looking closely at one of the ones that I left in the water a little longer and it looks like its breaking the surface i didn't want to disturb it by touching it so hopefully it sprouts. I figure I wait till the end of the week and see how the rest play out and if doesn't happen then im just gonna germinate some more
. Maybe they might be germinating a little longer in the soil I'll keep everyone posted.

Ya like they said you want to germinate just till the seed cracks, I just sandwich the seeds in two wet paper towels usually. Once the seeds are planted it should only take a couple of days to see a sprout.

Here are three of my little guys the other two are sprouting up as I post this. I guess I didn't drown them after all by leaving them in longer. I'll put more pics up as they grow. thanks for the advice everyone!!!
