What Paper Towel Brand Do You Use?

Ive been having a terrible time germinating seeds as of late.

Ive used the paper towel method, but I believe the cheap towels dry faster.

What brand of paper towel do you use? I heard a sponge work good too.

    Comments? :rasta:

I just use whatever kind I have around... Doesn't really matter.
If you have some GladWare (resealable plastic containers) around, they work great for holding the moisture in... That's how I do it.

Fold the paper towel a few times & lay it in the plastic container, then I spray it with plain water realy well, get it nice & moist. Then I put the seeds in between the folds & spray it again, then place the lid on & stick the containter someplace nice & warm... Generally, I see root tails in 24-48 hours. Very high germination rate, too.

I've given up on the paper towel method......I don't like screwing with putting the seed into the soil. That requires the hands of a surgeon or bomb disposal expert.

I figure, if a seed can't germinate in the soil...like it's suppose to...???...the hell with it. I do soak it for 12 hours, first. ...and keep the soil/air temps up around 85 degrees......and a hand spray bottle, to keep the top of the soil moist.

damp paper towel in a gladware container is perfect. If you place the container on a warmer surface (eg. computer hard drive), I hear that's suppose to help with germination.

No towel. Glass cigar tube with a stopper, seeds in bottom, just a FEW DROPS of water in there to moisten but NOT float them, put in a cardoard box on top of the fridge where it is ~80'F, wait 2 days (check that tip of taproot is showing), plant. The taproot pops on the 2nd day for me with most strains. Don't let it get long! Just let it APPEAR!

I now use this method...which Image Reaper passed along to me from Mike Mandala heres his method which I now use with 100% results so far...I do use the rapid rooters and a cap for PVC pipe...add a little water (5.8 ph).

    This is Mikes Mandala's method...

For an optimal germination result the seeds should be planted DIRECTLY into the substrate. We clearly advise against using pre-germination methods or soaking. Please do not place the seeds into a glass of water or in moist paper tissues. Fresh and healthy seeds prefer a nurturing and airy substrate to germinate in â?? just as mother nature has meant it to be. Cannabis is a plant species originating from semi-arid and temperate biotopes and the vast majority of modern cannabis hybrids contain a substantial percentage of these genetics. Cannabis seeds are not adapted to swampy wetlands, but they are suited for germinating in well drained soil/substrate. In nature they rot if they fall into a puddle of water...and there are no paper tissues lying around either. Taking into account these botanical facts, it is quite logical that by creating germination conditions that are similar to those of the natural habitat one can expect the best results.

    Good luck,
    Peace,
    Treetops

I use viva paper towels.. by kleenex. Like stinky said; do not let the tap root get long and plant into your substrate immediately.

I use Rapid rooters for the first 1 week of growth before transplanting into a 3-4" pot.
