here's an interesting yet useless question....
So my friend and I have been having this heated debate as to whether or not Cannabis would be primarily controlled by big corporations or individual home growers if it was legalized in America. This has been driving me crazy because none of us are able to win the debate and end the stupid thing. So thats why I want several opinions because this debate must end! So what do you guys think? Owned by big corporations or small time growers or maybe both?

I personally think it would be a mix between the two.
The big corporations selling to the people who either cant be bothered or don't have the know how to grow.
But the people who can grow decent crops, growing for themselves.

One way or another Uncle Sam is going to have his hand in our pockets. IF it is ever legal to grow you'll probably need to have a "permit to grow" or some type of tax stamp based on your crop size. Even with medical marijuana, the politicians that "seem" to be for it are calling for government grown over home grown.

It's like hamburgers, which are legal in most states despite militant animal rights groups' work to the contrary
You can go to McDonald's for the cheap one that gives you the taco shits, or you can grill your own with love and no added chemicals or fillers. Might cost more, and take longer, but it's an option. You still have to pay tax on the grill and propane...

If you want to look at what big corporations can do, look at tobacco.
Pure tobacco have hallucinogenic properties that had been taken away. Now all you got is a cancer stick with minor pleasure.
No way I want that to happen to cannabis.

Most likely corporations would dominate it, because of the literally trillions of dollars in profit they could make in just a few years, provided they did it relativlely fairly. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the government threw down legislation that said citizens can grow it, just not sell it. It'd be like alcohol. You can make your own still and brewery or what not if you want, but its all personal and you need a liscence to produce it en masse and for profit.

i think there would be both. First off i think it would be more of a wal-mart vs. mom n pop type thing though. You know, the guy down the street who grows his own, is super dank, but doesnt have much selection/weight, or you could go to wally world where you can get almost any variety, in preset amounts that wont let you get smaller amounts, but they have almost everything, though you have to look real hard to find the super danks. And some curing required, kinda like assembly required furniture.
As for taxing it, it would be pretty tough to enforce, if you grew your own, its easier to grow your own weed than it is for tobacco or distilling or brewing alcohol. And if you ever get seeds, which is very easy with MJ then you can automatically start to grow your own and even copy their strains. Though large corporations would probably have a "strain" of their own, and all would be seedless, making the price worth the effort, and harder to steal a strain from competitors. But i think that if the government wants they could install a kind of grow permit which you would have to have in order to grow, and it says up to how many plants you can grow, which is decided upon based on how much you pay, for each plant will have a small "tax" charged for growing it, maybe 5-20 bucks each. Then if you dont have a permit then you can face drug charges similar to what we have now, whereas if you have the permit then you are in the free and clear. In fact that would give them a reason to spend most of their time focusing on MJ instead of the other drugs of choice by many peoples.
