    Palin vs Biden Debate

she did better than i would have ever dreamed, but i almost think they held her back and made her look idiotic so everyone had such a low expectation, that just saying hello in a confident voice made her look good.

i think the best part of the debate was when biden said the vp is there to give the best advice possible to the president

i dont think palin did good in the energy department, all she wants to do is drill and more oil, and thats the problem with our society. we need to get away from it while we still have a chance to do it without hurting many people

palin held her ground for the most part, and did better than expected, but biden controlled most of that debate and he sounded more natural even when he was reciting facts...palin's gosh-shucks-hokey-pokey act was out of place in such a high level debate

i don't recall biden mentioning mccain's plan to freeze federal spending (at over $3 trillion)...did that come up? maybe they're saving that knockout punch for obama in the next debate

I tend to agree with this poll. Seems that the left has alot of hate for Palin...could there be a reason behind this?

Hmm... you must be looking at different polls than me. The numbers I'm seeing are more like Biden 51%- Palin 36%. The rest undecided. Interesting.

the drudge poll isn't an objective randomized poll conducted under the rules of statistical sampling....it's a non-scientific survey of people who visit the drudge site

drudge readers think palin won...that says more about drudge readers than palin

    Palin vs Biden Debate

I thought Palin did better than expected --- of course, after the Katie Couric interviews, she was expected to gibber like a monkey, so it was not much to overcome. Still, I was almost happy for her that she did not look like a total ass, even though I really cannot stand her.

The main differrence between the debate and the interviews is that when you are in an interview, the interviewer can keep directing you back to the question and not let you wander off and answer something totally different. That is where she failied in the interviews --- when forced to focus on the question, her brain froze up and she babbled. In the debate, she could just ignore the question completely and talk about whatever she wanted to talk about. She'd be asked a question and then say, "Well, I'd like to talk about taxes," or, "I'd like to talk about energy." Biden pointed out once that she didn't talk about the topic, and she outright said she wasn't going to talk about what the moderator or Biden wanted to talk about and she was going to talk about what she wanted to talk about! When she did stick to the subject, it was mostly platitudes and generalities.

I thought Biden did well. He gave good thoughtful answers. He stuck to the topics and answered them intelligently. He was repectful of Palin. He was certainly far less condescending to Palin than McCain was to Obama.

The main goal of both sides was not to do any damage, and I think they both did that. Palin did not fall completely on her face, like many thought she would. And Biden did not stick his foot in his mouth or come off as condescending, as many thought he would. Neither did their side a whole lot of good, but they both avoided the downside.

In the end, the main question to me was, who seems like they could actually be the president if necessary? I thought Joe Biden seemed ready to be president. He knows what he is doing, and he knows the issues. Palin is not ready --- not even close. She is able to reel off what she has been told. And if an issue is not part of the prepared script, she just ignores it and goes back to the script. I cannot stand this "Joe Sixpack" idiocy she keeps going back to. We have already had a Joe Sixpack president with no understanding of the issues, and it was a disaster. We need someone who knows what the hell they are doing.

Probably this VP debate will not mean much. Now that it is over and no one imploded, attention will go back to the economic meltdown and the top of the ticket.
