the question i have is can you produce seeds from a mother in veg off of her preflowers? i have a vial of pollen ive collected from a male wwxgdp and want to cross it with a haleys comet and also a mk but i dont want to seed anything in flower. they have pretty white preflower or mature mother pistols and im thinking of brushing some pollemn on them and also willl it cause clones from that branch to seed?

My OGKush used to throw pistils in veg, and I kept my males in the same closet, and got a shitload of random OGK-A x ??? crosses off her. lol!
You'll be able to tell if the pollination took within 3 weeks.

The pistol is a tube that captures and escorts the pollen into the calyx.
The same mechanics that germinate a calyx (via the pistols) during flower, works in pre-flower too. Once successfully pollinated, pistol will wither-up. (becoming unreceptive to further pollination) The seed will then develop inside the calyx.

Why not just save the pollen, and paint the pistols on one or two lower branches of a lady in full-flower, once you get enough pistols to make it worth your efforts? ? (marked with twist-ties so you won't forget)
Tiz the difference between getting 10 viable seeds, and shitloads of viable seeds. (unscientific numbers represented)
If careful...inadvertant pollination on other buds will be minimal. (fans off, or do the procedure in another room)

Have never cloned a pollinated cutting, but likely it would be pretty stressful for both of you. (edjumicated guess)

    thanks to both of you.

and i did paint some last time that were in flower already but i seeded alot more than i wanted to.
hard to keep fans off for to long temp issues.

maybe a mist of water afterwards?
well im gonna try, im on this thing to cross everystrain i grow

heres what i have so far ww which was couch lock with massive resins crossed with a good sativa purp real clean breakfst smoke pollen from a male with great growth patterns gonna be
crossed with a female master kush great high great taste kinda skinny tho and also a female haleys comet ok smoke very dense sativa dom try to stretch her and couldnt get more than a half inch between nodes hoping the ww gdp will pick her up a lil then next hope to cross the hc offspring with the mk offspring

hope that makes sense kinda stoned what do you think?

I'm curious why you'd mist after pollination. If it's an attempt to control pollen, you still have it floating around the growroom, landing on all surfaces....swirling-around every time you walk by or every time your fans hit it. If care isn't taken when pollinating in your growroom, you'll risk unwanted cross-pollination weeks down the road with a different crop. Either pollinate elsewhere, or be much more careful. (fans off, lights off or raised)

Number one rule of breeding...be patient and diligent.
Number two rule...be patient and diligent.
Do you know much about back-crossing to stabilize strain traits? If not, I'd look into it before you risk stripping all the goodness out of your retail strains thru poor breeding selections. At the very least...I'd breed and stabilize (back cross) the individual retail strains, and keep those seeds well-marked and seperate from your experiments. Generally...once you screw-up with cross-breeding...there's no fixing your errors.

yeah that was a thought with the water but the pollenation would occur in a seperate room with an attemp to keep the pollens on the pistols with the water upon there return not to mention im on the second week of flwer so theres still only a lil bit of pistols

and i dont know much about cross pollination but the thought of back crossing did cross my mind from watching my buddy breed his dogs thats why i was thinking of trying to cross the white widow x purp which ive done alredy with both a haleys comet and a master kush and then cross the offspring of them to have about an equal amount of all four.

i have mothers for all, and beans from only the ww x purp ( a whole butt load) and im not gonna lose the mommas i like so im just looking for something for me and info from those with experiance.
even if its a clone only cultivar and theres a bud named after me sweet maybe mention it in a song lol

Would recommend waiting a bit before pollination, till plenty of pistols on the underbranches. Carefully paint the pollen (I use a Q-Tip with most of the fuzzy stuff removed) on the pistols in those lower regions. Remember...one grain of pollen per pistol, no need to pile that shit on. This provides both good solid colas, and seeds too. Seven weeks minimum for seed maturity on most strains I play around with. (8 weeks is better) If seeds are not ready, can always cut the finished colas, and let the seeded parts continue till mature.
Here's a little look into the basics of stabilizing/back-crossing. The diligence you put into it has a great bearing on the final results.

Hmmm...Going to have to be a musical pro to fit a name like phatsesh101 into a song. Possibly best to give the resultant buds a real cool (and easy to rhyme) name, lol.

I hope this isn't too much to absorb, or scare ya off. But if you wish to preserve your quality genetics...best to know what to look for in choosing the expressions, and the way to repeat results. Keeping a growlog at home, to keep track of what you're doing, is invaluable.

well i have painted some underlings of the mk, and my haleys comet that decided to grow branches from burnt broken nodes and is the size of a baseball lol

i hope they took then i hope to yield a male and female from each mk and the hc then cross the male from the hc and the female mk and vice versa then cross thier off spring and hope fully be stable
