CFL Grow Update
So it's been around a month and a half in, and I'm having a bit of difficulty. Embryonic leaves are gone and the first pair of non-true leaves is yellowing, in a pot of 4 1/2 in. I just started LSTing her the other day; using ghetto ass hooks from a hangar. She's not as big as I've hoped, and there's been some yellowing (the dark green true leaves are fine)-I think it has a nitrogen defficiency. I was thinking of going to get some peat moss to add to boost her up (no nutes given to her yet;I'm a poor kid). Anyway, thinking of transplanting her again; the pot in now won't be big enough for LST. Thinking of putting into flowering by the end of Oct! Woot, but I have a looooong way to go before I can do that
Which is WHY I need heeelp!

At 6 weeks in you should have a monster by now, 18 to 24" tall. Letting it veg till October it will be huge. Also should be rootbound in 4 1/2 pot. Transplant asap and give her some nutes.

CFL Grow Update
Unfortunately I had to pull her this weekend. I loosened up the soil a bit to allow for better drainage, and this combined with my crappy ability to LST ultimately destroyed it. However, she was nowhere NEAR as big as she should've been. Vegging for almost two months and seven inches with 5 leaves? Anyway, I have two germ seeds planted and waiting for them to sprout. I was thinking of getting some Miracle Gro (I didn't use any nutes for the 1st time) and spraying the box white on the inside. Definitely need to get more of the CFL's in there; I only have 3 installed and I know lighting IS essential. Anyway, suggestions on how I can get these babies up and running? I'm thinking sea of green method for my box; I don't want to be waiting all the time for one big ass plant to harvest once or twice a year. Also, if I am getting clones do I HAVE to use the rooting solution that you put on the root tips?

so, you wanna get more cfls in there, huh?
well i can help you with that, but you'll need to stop being poor. you don't have to be rich, but you'll need some dough. can you give me the dimensions of the box you're using? until then, here's a pic of my CFL setup. i'll give you a list of what you'll need when you get those dimensions!

as far as the cloning goes...
you don't have to use the rooting gel/powder. i reccommend it, but i have friends who don't and have about 90% success. i just like it because of the fungicide, but not all contain that. i use rootone.
and now the SOG question...
i wouldn't do SOG. i'd opt for ScrOG (screen of green) instead. but i'll have to get the dimensions of your box before i completely make up my mind...
P.S. DON'T USE MIRACLE GROW! i grow hydro so hopefully some soil experts come by this thread. all i hear about MG is bad bad bad though. at least for seedlings/young plants anyways.

CFL Grow Update
Hey guys. I'm doing a project similar to the OP. Currently have 11 4-6 inch tall babies growing under 4 cfls (2 cool, 2 warm), they're doing great (my thread is on this page somewhere if anyone wants a look) and I had some questions for you experts:
I want to start doing a SoG, I only have 4 bulbs, I can probably add a max of 6-8. The dimensions of my box are as follows:
Width: 1 foot 2 inches (Front to back)
Length: 2 feet 1 inch (Left to right)
Height: 2 feet 6 inches(This is with my lights as high as possible, not the box itself)
I don't exactly have a hundred bucks to blow on a 250 HPS bulb, nor do I plan to anytime soon (buy one that is).
I'm pretty stoked on the SoG technique and would love to do it using 4-8 clones at a time. Is this a good idea? I'm new to growing and I'm reading every little site I come across, (some of it is just duped info from other sites, I have to say) and I have yet to find out weather SoG is right for my box and lighting conditions.

merc, if you haven't, check out the pic in my last post. that should give you an idea of what i did. your front to back dimensions are perfect for that setup and if you only wanna do 6-8 max, that setup could give you six, but i'd go 12. do what you do and if you need any help with a parts list or whatever, start a new thread so we can let northbrooks keep his thread his own. i check this regularly and i'll hit you up. best of luck! -GG84
