Rotting on certain spots?

Certain spots of a plant of a friends is rotting and he keeps plucking off the rotting spots but more show up is this some sort of disease? he is also wondering whether the 'rot' can be smoked, everything looks intact (leaves and etc), but the color is brown

do you need a pic to diagnose a problem like this?

Cut out any buds with rot and throw them away (do not smoke), its a disease, and it will only get worse and can easily take out the whole crop. The problem is caused by high Rh and that needs to be gotten under control ASAP, or it will only continue to happen. A spray of beneficial bacteria would help slow the problem down. Also a sulfur burner is a must in a grow room, this will also help, as a preventive measure.

If having a humidity/moisture problem, the last thing you need is more moisture. Moisture is trapped very easily between leaves, (in buds, for instance) and can promote mold growth. Tiz the first time I've heard of a beneficial bacteria to eat mold, but I'm no expert on that. Would love to hear more. :thumbsup:

Are you foliar spraying the ladies? Do you have a fan on 'em at all times? Any way to lower your growroom's relative humidity?

Serenade is a beneficial that kills harmful fungi. It is Bacillus subtilis.
Treat your plants with a light mist of that; you don't need a lot as it is a living thing and will multiply on its own through cell division.
Keep a steady breeze on your plants and dehumidify your grow area as much as possible.
If the night temps are quite low, add a small space heater to bring them up, which actually reduces your %RH and prevents dewfall, which leads to more fungus.
Never smoke moldy buds, especially if you have any immune or respiratory issues, especially mold allergies!

Ahhh...in a liquid base. Hadn't even thought of that. (doh) Thanks stinky...ya learn something new every day.

Was wondering, because the beneficials I use (mycorrhizal fungi) are waaaay too chunky to spray.

Guess it's a good thing I live in the desert, lol.

I think there has GOT to be some way to spray mycos, but since they are supposed to reside in the dirt anyhow... don't sweat it! (Already sweatin' enough in the desert)

ok im getting in on this thred i just looked at my plant and i too have mold spots not much tho so foar only 3 or 4 little spots but its a start now mine is outside and it needs at least 2 weeks to go it seems to be trapped in side the bud now some body sauid it will keep comeing back should i try to pluck the mold off everyday or as much as posible to stop from spreading or shoulod i just harvest the plant. forcast says cold and rain at least 3 times this week with some sunny days. now this spray someone mentiond will it work for outdoor? any advice would be great. sorry for hijacking but a littel more info on this thred is needed

It works anywhere. Remove the affected parts and get on a treatment schedule. Next year, try a mold-resistant outdoor strain like Island Sweet Skunk.
You can get it at hardware stores and walmart too, but I keep hearing rumours that b. subtilis is being taken off the market in some places, anyone see it disappearing off shelves yet? It's a red bottle shaped like a small laundry-soap jug, that says 'Serenade' and has a pic of hummingbird on the label.

Just thinking out loud here, but what if you build a wood frame out of 1x1 and skin it in clear plastic poly and make a little cover for the plant for when it rains. This would be cheep and should help a bit. make sure the bottom is open so it can breath.
