Fan Leaf Removal During Flowering? If you cut them off you will be cutting the food supply to the growing buds. The buds themselves produce only a fraction of the sugars that they need to grow. The fan leaves produce most of the plant's food. Let the plant decide when the fan leaves should go! I pick them only when they are yellowed.
