stress of any kind can cause a hermie ... basically, the male plant is capable of enduring worse conditions, than the female ... so, if things are too rough for her, she may 'switch' to male ... I have subjected lots of plants to enormous stress, over the years (from not knowing what I was doing, and sometimes on purpose, to test stability) ... I still haven't had a hermie ... I have had serious lightstress, though ... it didn't cause hermies, but started growing one-blade branches, lol ... weird-looking ... left alone, it gradually returned to normal, and finished as a typical female ... I may be misguided, but I 'test' my plants for stability, stressing them, and keeping the survivors for future breeding ... only the strong survive ... Nature's rule: 'no pussies allowed' ...
