    Sarah Palin Speed-Date Night!

Sarah Palin is speed-dating with 9 world leaders in less than 30 hours! I hope she finds love!

My favorite part about this article is that Palin had originally wanted to allow news cameras take pictures of her with these leaders, but no reporters even present at all. Not just no questions, as usual --- no reporters even present, just pictures. The news organizations would not agree to being manipulated that way, so now reporters are allowed to observe, but still no questions. Ha ha!

It's no wonder she doesn't like questions --- she has nothing to say.

When Charles Gibson asked her for specific skills she could cite to rebut critics who question her grasp of international affairs, she replied, "I am prepared."

That's not really a specific skill is it? I am prepared?

And then when she was asked the same thing at a town hall meeting she said, "I have that confidence. I have that readiness. And if you want specifics with specific policies or countries, you can go ahead and ask me. You can play 'stump the candidate' if you want to. But we are ready to serve." And then there were no more questions allowed for her!

She gave no answer and then said you can ask me specifics, and then she took no more questions! Ha ha! Her best qualification is as a BS artist, I'd say!

She reminds me a lot of Bush. When he ran, he didn't have a lot of specifics either, but he sure was conviced he was ready. One of the most dangerous things in the world is a dumbass who doesn't know shit but who is completely confident. It takes more than that.

At least now when they ask her about her foreign policy experience she can say, "I took a picture with Hamid Karzai!"

Palin meeting with world leaders ahead of VP debate

(CNN) -- Gov. Sarah Palin met with Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday, the first of nine major international leaders she will meet with in the span of just 30 hours.

The appearances with world leaders, taking place on the sidelines of the United Nation's General Assembly meetings in New York, come as the campaign of Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain tries to convince voters that Palin is ready for the world stage.

Palin is holding photo-ops with the leaders, but she is not taking questions from any reporters.

The Alaska governor initially said no reporters would be allowed to sit in on her meeting with Karzai. She planned to allow in only photographers and one television crew, but she changed her position after at least five U.S. news networks protested.

CNN does not send cameras into candidate events where editorial presence is not allowed.

Palin's schedule was to include talks with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and U2 frontman Bono, who is known for his global humanitarian work.

"I think they want to show just as [Barack] Obama did when he went to Germany and gave a speech in Berlin, that she is comfortable on the international scene, that she can hold her own in conversations with foreign leaders," said James Hoge, with the Council on Foreign Relations.

Palin has just over a week to prepare for her showdown with Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden, who is known for his prowess on foreign policy. Their debate is October 2 in St. Louis, Missouri. Watch what's on Palin's agenda »

Democrats warn that Palin's carefully scripted photo-ops, some of which will include Sen. McCain, could backfire by bringing attention to the holes in her resume.

"The big risk that they run with this strategy of having her meet with these leaders individually is that they end up with three days of stories about how she doesn't have foreign policy experience," said Hilary Rosen, a Democratic strategist and CNN contributor.

But Republicans point out that Palin is just following in the footsteps of other national candidates such as Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton -- former governors who needed to beef up their international policy credentials.

"The first thing you do is burnish their foreign policy credentials. You buy them a Rand-McNally, you meet with generals, you get a lot of flags on the stage and you give a big speech on foreign policy to display you have some command of the world," said Alex Castellanos, a Republican strategist and CNN contributor.

As a 44-year-old governor who just got her passport last year, she has had to fend off accusations that she is not up to speed on foreign policy. In a recent interview with ABC, she admitted she has never met with a head of state.

Asked last week for specific skills she could cite to rebut critics who question her grasp of international affairs, she replied, "I am prepared."

"I have that confidence. I have that readiness," Palin told voters at a town-hall meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "And if you want specifics with specific policies or countries, you can go ahead and ask me. You can play 'stump the candidate' if you want to. But we are ready to serve."

McCain stepped in, pointing out that as governor of a state that has plenty of oil and gas, Palin was familiar with energy. She knows it to be "one of our great national security challenges," he said.

He also cited her nearly two years as commander of Alaska's National Guard.

"I believe she is absolutely, totally qualified to address every challenge as the next vice president of the United States," McCain said.

And Obama's experience is what, the "tour de Europe"? Big difference between being the #1 and the #2. Nice to see Obama campaign for President in Europe and very nice for Palin to get acquainted one on one with other leaders.

Here I thought you were all about the issues...LOL.

    Have a good one!:s4:

Are the taxpayers paying for this? If we are then they have no business flying around the world visiting all these idiots. The election is in the US not overseas. Doesn't really matter what Sarah does, she's not going to be VP. Biden is. The repubs have zero chance of getting elected. Bush Jr(McCain) would certainly be the wrong candidate in these troubled times. Of course Obama ain't much better.

No, we paid for the Obama world tour to a point...this is happening in New York. I think that the campaign is picking up this tab.

P4B, the issue here isn't that she's being a camera whore, which I admit both Palin and Obama are (Who can resist that heart-melting smile of Obama's, or the smokin' hot...well...everything of Palin's? Biden and McCain have every reason to be as camera shy as they are lol)

The issue here is that she has only been interviewed twice, so right now we have the vaguest of ideas as to how she would act as vice president, perhaps even president (knock on wood). By beating the press back with a stick, all we have are her well-written speeches and charming pictures to go by, which makes us wonder if she's hiding something.

Wow I went off topic in that last post and the time limit expired.

    Damn.

The issue in THIS thread, which I forgot I was in, is that these meetings look like they were meant to look important and presidential, even though they weren't.

Seems like Palin has a little bit of smarts by meeting with these other countrys leaders, she is doing at the UN in New York.... so there isn't a tab for a "world tour" to be payed.

I dunno, I am still leaning towards doing a write in for Robin Williams. He can't do any worse that shrub, and even if he does fail miserably, we'll be laughing about it
