In Palin's case it was ONLY about the photo OP. She wanted the cameras, just not the reporters. She wanted someone to take pictures of her meeting with foreign leaders, but no one to know what they talked about or what was said. They were probably worried about her saying something assinine.

Her handlers desperately want the pictures, and that is why they finally backed down when CNN said it would not air photos without a pool reporter present. Then they pulled a fast one and ran the reporter out as soon as the picture was taken.

But this is just turning into another Palin backfire. Instead of getting the story that she met with world leaders, the story is turning into more about how she has no substance whatsoever. She's a pretty face, good for pictures, but not much else.
