El Skeetro: Upgraded and back in bloom.

Hey all. This may be long and boring but here it goes:

Dunno if any of you remember but after my last harvest i wanted to do some upgrades to my room. Well, my list of 'wants' was quite long and didn't fill most of them. But my list of 'needs' has been tackled.

I won't bore you with what i wanted to do. Here's what i needed to do:

properly vent both air cooled hoods - CHECK! I have them sucking cool air from one set of joist and exhausting it into another. Each light has it's own 4" high powered muffin fan. NICE!

Got a REAL exhaust fan - CHECK! I was gonna order a fan online but decided to give local economy a shot. My hydro store couldn't beat the price for the fan i wanted, but he did sell me a bigger, stronger fan that he had in overstock for the same price i was gonna pay. Big props to that store, they have a rep among our grow community as being assholes, but this experience has definitely changed my mind. anyways, it's a touch big for what i need so i may get a speed control. i was gonna get a 6" but ended up getting an 8" fantech 521 CFM...for $160...yes!!! Temps were at 88 now 78. Humidity was at 85% (yikes!) and is now consistently 45-58%.

Made 2 DIY carbon scrubbers (Thanks to Bodom Children Of). The fantech is sucking through both of them. I kept the ducting to a minimum but the fan is huge and could use a little drag. Also cut some passive intakes, one from inside the house pulling cool dry air, and one from outside bringing fresh air.

Other than that, just some general cleaning and tweaks here and there.

    ON TO THE PICS!

    VEG:
1.) My sparse veg area. Should be huge soon enough with all the clones i took.

2.) My clone Tray. Left side is rooted clones that wish they were vegging (been busy) Right side is fresh cut on 9/21/08, Half white rhino, half NLxS1.

3.) My test bubbler. Thanks to justanotherbozo for inspiring me to try this again. I got some superthrive this time and god damn i already see a difference. Again, half Rhino, Half NLxS1. if this works i'll never buy plugs again...YES!!!

4.) A sad NLxS1 'mom'. This was part of my LST experiment but it didn't grow as fast as the one you are about to see so i just took a bunch of clones off of it.

    FLOWER:
5.) FINALLY!, after 4 weeks of down time). Here you can see the aircooled hoods (2 400w HPS). The front pipe is intake, the top is exhaust.
This is a grow full of experiments. I have a test SOG with 15 mixed plants (i lost track of who was who...ahhhh!) In the middle is my LST bush. It's NLxS1. It's lovely. And the far right is a beauty of a white rhino. This is my 3rd time growing rhino and i learned that this time i should tie that slut down from the start. not SCROG, just bondage (:S1.

6.) Test SOG and LST. Always wanted to try these methods, so i did. The SOG isn't ideal, as i said i dunno who is who cuz i took out all my colored toothpicks (what a dick!...oh well...one is an 8 week and the other 10 so time will sort them out). Also they are all different heights...i'm trying to clone more consistent sized cuttings...hence the SOG and shit load of clones in Veg. I also gave half a dozen to a friend.

7.) Canopy. I'm pretty pleased with how consistent my canopy is. Thanks goes to StinkyAttic for her thread on efficiency. The Rhino on the right is for DutchPimp, She's been askin' about you imp: + :rhinoceros: = :woohoo:

8.) Fantech FX 8XL. $160. i love it. The insulation is for dampening sound. You can't hear it at all outside the room.

Okay. hope you didn't fall asleep. I'm super excited about all this stuff and i just had to tell someone who cares!!! (the wife has started tuning me out when i talk about my favorite hobby...sure you'll smoke my weed, but you won't hear about my day...JK, my wife is the best...but seriously, i bore her with grow talk.)

    thanks for lookin.

Hey everyone. Just an update for the few of you that subscribed.

Here they are at 3 weeks.

Pic 1: The NL x S1: is doing quite well. My best venture with this strain yet. It's the one i LST'd and i'm very pleased with the outlook. I did some pruning to get more light penetration and improve airflow. Also removed some dead/dying leaves caused by a little heat from the lamp.

Pic 2: White Rhino: This thing is getting huge. I'm shooting for 6oz off this single plant. that'll be a personal best. This is my 3rd rhino grow and also looking to be my best yet with this strain. Minimal heat stress, low RH%, pushing the nutes a little more this time. Also pruned a bit for light and air flow.

Pic 3: Whole flowering side: I'm Loving the LST, The SOG is doing ok, but i'm not that into it anymore...and I'm loving my big rhino.

Pics 4&5: Some buds: Lookin good and starting to get frosty for 3 weeks.

In addition to my standard GH 3 part i am adding some PK 13/14. This res change i did 1â??.5â??3â??.5 (Gâ??Mâ??Bâ??13/14) loosely following latewood's recipe. As they start to bulk up i'll increase the 13/14 to 1 and 1.5 as the plants tell me they can take it.

I'm really happy with my setup (FINALLY!!!). This was a 3 way experiment for me. I've wanted to try SOG and LST for a long time and i finally got to try them. Also just trying to tame that rhino this time around. I don't think i'll be doing SOG any time soon as i don't like the idea of taking tons of clones.

Instead i think i'll opt for a SCROG and at least 6 weeks of vegging. I have some plans in my head for a mobile, modular SCROG setup that will allow me to easily move the plants, Screen and all, for easy res changes and rotations. I'll sketch it up soon to get some feedback. My final goal is 4 plants total...2 vegging SCROG and 2 Flowering SCROG...Harvesting 1 plant every 4â??5 weeks depending on strain.

It's great when things go well.

    thanks again for looking.
    Skeet.

    Update - Week 4

Well, Today is 4 weeks for these ladies. I think they are doing A-OK. These are the biggest 4 week buds i've had yet.

The Rhino is doing well, it isn't as pretty or photogenic as the NLxS1, but it's got lots of buds filling in all over the place, I'm hoping for 6 oz. off this Rhino. That may seem high, but they really surprised me last crop.

The NLxS1 is doing very well. A little nute burn and a little heat stress from the first week. But she is recovered and booming.

The SOG is stupid. I don't like it and haven't put any time into it...It seemed like a good idea at first but i hate taking lots of clones. so eff SOG. I did, however, build 2 27"x30" screens for a SCROG. I will be doing that as soon as these plants are done flowering. Will be a serious log.

I'm really glad I decided to give the PK 13/14 another shot. I really think it's making a difference!

    Here's the pics:

    1. Everyone: LST NLxS1 / SOG mix of WR and NLxS1 / White Rhino, just big as fuck.

    2. NLxS1 - nice shot of the buds.

    3. NLxS1 - Top Down.

    4. WR - Canopy ain't as even as it was pre-stretch. Based on last crop, most of that space will fill in.

    5. WR - Top Down.

Since these plants are doing so well this go'round I've actually had some time to take some nice pics of them.

Like i said earlier, The NLxS1 is much prettier and photogenic than the WR (damn ugly sativas).

I hope you all enjoy these. They're the desktops on my home computers.

I also included my new feeding schedule. It's loosely based on Latewood's recipe, but with a few tweaks of my own plus the PK 13/14. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Here's the breakdown:

    G-M-B
    1 = 8ml

    PK 13/14
    1 = 6ml

I use 6 gallons of water in my solution.

This is for an 8 week strain...for a 10 week strain...i do an extra week of 1-.5-3-.5 in the beginning and an extra 0-0-3-1 before flushing.

In addition to that stuff above...i use H202, Hygrozyme, and a few drops of Superthrive...all as directed.

    Thanks for looking,
    Skeet

PS - Compare these bud close ups with one from Week 3 update. I'm damn pleased.
