Drug testing is illegal in Ontario.

I dont have an internet source, just the information provided to me by my union local IBEW 1687. One of our brothers was removed from a job site because he refused to take a drug test. We sued and were awarded 80 000$. Drug testing isn't common in Ontario but it does exist. In other provinces such as Alberta drug testing is legal and common place.

and do u have to have a union backing u up to be able to sue on such instances? or can workers themselves file lawsuits that will most likely succeed.

I have no idea how unions might or might not affect this complaint process. if u know anything plz illuminate me on this one
