    Purple Days anyone?

Anyone out there tried the purple days diffuser/vaporizer? i've heard some pretty good things about it, and was wondering what other people think. I've grown to like my herbalaire, but i like the purple days' purported portability (car adapter) and toughness. my herbalaire is only about 6 months old but i would probably have to sell it to afford the purple days...is this simply a poor investment? herbalaire was 250 new, purple days is 150...i dont know how much i could get for my h.a...it's in near perfect condition.

    Purple Days anyone?

Hey seelos. I've got both the herbalAire and the Purple-Days. My herbalAire is two years old and I've used it almost daily (my wife likes bag delivery) until this past spring. I bought an SSV and started using that almost exclusively, while still doing an occasional bag with the wife. Then I bought the Purple-Days vape in early May (looked like a great deal and a big improvement over my Vapolution for home/portable use) and settled on the SSV and PD as my only vapor systems. The PD is so efficient and easy to use that my SSV use went from almost 100% to about 35-40%. I love the high volume vapor hits the Surfer can provide, so it will continue to be used on a regular basis, just not as much as before.

What really ended my herbalAire use altogether was my wife falling in love with the PD. It's the only direct draw vape she's been willing to use. In fact, I'd be using the Surfer even less, except that she tends to hog the PD.

Aside from build quality and simplicity that should allow the PD to last long enough to become an heirloom, it offers vaping pleasure (hell, I love just holding this little jewel) and taste you just can't get from the herbalAire. No, it doesn't hit BIG like a full size whip vape, but it is surprising how much vapor you can get out of a bowl that only holds about .02g. The herbalAire, with its 18 tiny outlet holes in the bowl area, doesn't allow for very satisfying direct draw hits (it is effective though), and bagged vapor, whether it's the herbalAire or the Volcano, is always going to be diluted with the pumped in air, and therefore not as rich in its hits.

While I hate to advise you to sell your herbalAire in order to buy the PD, mine is sitting idle and collecting dust while the Purple days vape gets daily use. It's also great as a portable, with only the long warm up time as a minus. OTOH, the big stainless steel heat exchanger that requires that 30 warmup, also is responsible for excellent heat retention, allowing for hard and repeated hits without dropping the temp down below vaping range. Just yesterday I used my Vapolution battery pack to power my PD. It let me enjoy a couple of bowls while sitting in a parking lot, waiting on my wife to get a hair cut. The big heat exchanger will also allow you to disconnect the power cord and take the PD to another room and vape a bowl off the stored heat in the exchanger. I'm pretty sure no other vape on the market can do that. The temp would drop too quickly.

I can't say you won't miss the herbalAire if you have to sell it, but I can assure you that you won't suffer from buyer's regret if you get the PD. It's an outstanding vape and probably the best bargain out there, considering the build time involved for a $150 price.

Vapenow.com has just started selling the PD, but I suspect he won't be the 'exclusive dealer' for long. I would recommend the purpledays site though, for a personalized buying experience.

Thanks a lot vapefiend, that helps me out considerably. Indeed I will probably miss my herbalaire, but the purple day's features really seem to match my use you could say and i think with it i would be much more prone to use a vaporizer more often than I am now. I was planning on buying another pump for my herbalaire, but haven't gotten around to it. Right now it just takes so long to fill up a turkey bag. I usually don't mind at all waiting for it to fill, but a good amount of the time recently i've just been opting for the bong, which i know is not nearly as healthy so i would like to avoid it. Leaving the purple days on during most of the day, combined with those .02g bowls of tasty vapor sound like an amazing way to go. I'll be sure to write a bit of a review when it comes...if i can sell my herbalaire for a decent price.

If you are looking for an uber quiet vaporizer that has literally no weed smell then you should get a Volcano Vaporizer. There is no vaporizer like this one! It actually fills a bag up with the sweet sweet Vapor and the bag can be carried around and passed with ease. Take just one of these bags down to your face and you will be stoned for hours on end. The Volcano is the Vaporizer that is Found in all of the MMJ dispenseries because it enables one to taste and differentiate betweeen different strains of bud. I vaped with the Volcano this whole past summer just upstairs from my parents room. They never could smell a thing! When little brothers storm in the room they couldn't smell anything! I am selling mine on Ebay at the moment. I have had it for about 6 months, but i must sell it to pay for my move out to California. MMJ Card Here I Come! The link to the Auction is Volcano Vaporizer--Solid Valve System Must See!!! - eBay (item 190266446764 end time Nov-19-08 12:33:11 PST):vap_smiley:

Not only are there other, more versatile bag fillers available for hundreds less (Extreme, herbalAire), but your post is nothing more than a sales ad for your unit, which has to be against the forum rules.

The dude said 30 minute warm up time in the video, is that true? That's a really long time, my herbalaire is at temp in a minute maybe a minute and a half. Its a very attractive unit though, and would be nice for the boat or car. I'm looking for something semi-portable.

The 30 min. heatup is necessary to get the stainless steel heat exchanger up to temp. Since it draws no more power than two 4 watt night lights, it's not a problem to run it 24/7, which most people do. Mine's usually on a cheap in-line timer, so it's ready to go when I get home and shuts down after I go to bed. The upside to the big heat exchanger is a steady temp. Heavy and quickly repeated hits don't faze it. The Vapolution battery pack will run it, but obviously you get more time if it's preheated at home and switched to the BP or car adapter.

I have the herbalAire too, and it does heat up fast, but the reality is that I can get home, sit down and vape a bowl in the PD before my wife can get the herbalAire turned on and a bowl loaded. And as efficient as the herbalAire is with processing herb, the PD blows it out of the water in that department. It's just amazing how much vapor you can get out of such a small bowl.

How long does the BP keep the PD warm if you preheat it at home?

I use my PD to vape before class, but some classes run up to 5 hours, and I'd love to have it hot and ready in my car for me for break-time, you know?

that guy is coughing his head off, in the YouTube video :wtf: ... judging by the smoke he's exhaling, his vape is running too hot ... I think the PD claims about 375F, doesn't it ? ... I used my HerbalAire at 330-335 (verified with infrared thermomoter) , seemed about right, only got vapor, it could never make you cough ... :smokin:
