    Palin's email invasion: internet 101

    washingtonpost.com

Last week, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin suffered a cruel little invasion of privacy: Somebody logged into the Alaska governor's Yahoo account and browsed through her mail. This person, still unknown, apparently pulled this off by guessing the answer to the security question on Yahoo's password-reset page: "Where did you meet your spouse?"

Most of us aren't public figures whose lives are chronicled in books, newspaper articles and Wikipedia, but the same issue applies. If somebody else can answer your security question -- a common back door offered for users who forget their login and can't get it e-mailed to a secondary e-mail address -- he doesn't need to guess your password or steal it with a phishing scam or a keystroke-logging virus.

You can minimize that risk by choosing a question with an answer that's only in your head, not on the Web. (Remember, "the Web" includes whatever's on your profile at Facebook, MySpace or another social-networking site, even if that information isn't shown to strangers.)

there certainly isnt one for the president post itself, now u want for vp? lol

but thinking about it, in fact they should make an iq of better than 100 points a requirement for all elected officials in the exec and legislature... that in fact is a brilliant idea!

i agree with your gmail comment!!! its far better than yahoo and im an ex-yahoo fan over msn/hotmail/aol

especially i like the spam filter! its almost impenetrable unlike yahoo's

but back to the person discussed here, well she was a nobody until a couple years ago, so im not surprised if she still used her "personal email"

All this and not one mention of the idiot son of a Dem state representative that will be up on federal charges:

The FBI has served a search warrant against a 20-year-old college student in connection with the hacking of Sarah Palinā??s personal e-mail account.

A witness told WBIR-TV that FBI agents served the warrant at the college residence of David Kernell, a student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Kernell is the son of Mike Kernell, a Democratic state representative from Memphis.

    Have a good one!

god remember the days when "hacking" actually meant hacking?

i do agree the kid is a flippin moron, but what he did is hardly, by any conventional use of the term, to be considered hacking...

sorry for the slightly off-topic response but thats one of those terms always incorrectly used by the MSM

She probably has her naked pictures online somewhere thinking they are secure as well. Maybe if you can answer the question, "What is your favorite pet's name?" you can actually "hack" in and see those naked pictures!
