It is truely cruel and unusual punishment to make legal medical marijuana patients wait for their ID Cards. But as Storm Crow say's, "I'm glad I live in California." Imagine this, living in Iowa where marijuana is considered as addictive and destructive as heroin :wtf:. Where marijuana and its therapeutic effects are considered more damaging to human health than alcohol and nicotine :wtf:! However, Sen Tom Harkin (D-IA) recently responded to my bi-annual letter as to when I will be able to treat my chronic nausea and vomiting from Diabetic Neuropathic GastroParesis with the only safe and effective drug known to man for the control of chronic nausea & vomiting, MARIJUANA? In his response Harkin says, "It is my understanding that there is evidence to suggest that marijuana may be effective at delivering medicinal benefits in some circumstances-benefits which may outweigh risks associated with prescribed use in some cases. Certainly we should explore reasonable ways to relieve pain suffered by people with chronic or terminal illnesses, and I support the idea of conducting research into whether medicinal marijuana can serve this or other purposes . The FDA has already approved a drug called Marinol, a synthetic form of the active ingrediant in marijuana ." Yes Sen Harkin but in my original letter to you I told you that I have been on Marinol for years and it doesn't hold a candle when compared to medical (or as you put it 'Medicinal') Marijuana for the immediate and continued relief of chronic nausea and vomiting. This new attitude of Harkins is a complete 180 degree turn. Six minths ago in response to the same question Sen Harkin's response was a "War On Drugs" form letter which in it stated that, "If you smoke marihuana, you will find yourself huddled in a corner willing to sell your children for just one more puff of marihuana" i.e. marihuana is as addictive and destructive as heroin. This recent and total change from Harkin regarding Medical Marijuana, I believe, is strictly political rhetoric. Harkin is like the seaweed in the ocean, or the grass (no pun intended, sigh, unfortunately) that blows in the wind. Harkin leans in the direction of the prevailing winds to garner more support for the Democratic Party. If McCain hadn't picked Palin as his veep I doubt Medical Marijuana would continue to be an issue with the politicians, even though it is only growing stronger amongst the people :smokin:. We each need to keep up the good fight within our states to legalize Medical Marijuana. The government will not change marijuana prohibition until and unless the public demands it...Peace...:stoned::baggy::S5:
