    Wild Patch

What would it take for me to start a wild patch of cannabis that comes back year after year? How many seeds etc. I would be starting with a local variety that has been around since the late 70's.

My idea being that over time the strain would become mega acclimated to my local conditions.

I could then use the wild seeds to look for mothers to clone out for a super duper localized crop.

How many seeds to plant? How many seasons until I would not have to help that patch out?

My location is about 15 miles from any road or dwelling so I am not worried about the man find it.

    Wild Patch

You are talking about making a self-seeding patch. First you must determine whether cannabis seeds will be killed by the winter cold in your area, which as I recall is more frigid than the stony gaze of a certain stern Secretary of State...
Look to commercial outdoor strains from the far north, ones with fat seeds and tough husks. If you are really serious about this as a long-term project, getting seeds from feral industrial hemp from a cold midwestern state and breeding a drug grade strain into it might be an option. And consider mulching your area very heavily each fall with a thick layer of leaf litter or hay.

    Thanks Stinky!

I think that I will start working toward planting a "self seeding" plot next year.
Yes your memory serves you well. Winter here is mind blowing cold and filled with lake effect snow. I love every minute of it too Did some one say winter?

Again thanks for the suggestions I will put them to good use
