I realize that this is an "op-ed" piece, and that in the article, it says that the fed has been "charged". But this is incorrect.
The judge simply refused to dismiss the case, which means that it will proceed to trial. I guess you could say they have been "charged" but it's not a criminal case so it will likely not have the impact that one might initially think. (I know I got really excited about it at first.)
Also, it is a "civil" case, and will likely not have any bearing on anything except for those involved.

The thread also has actual court docs regarding the case if you want to have a look see. It is intresting though. I haven't heard anything about it further.
