Rev Carl Olsen of the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church, whose religious sacrament is marijuana, brought suit against the U.S. Gov't, the DEA and the State of Iowa Pharmacy Board this past summer of 2008 (which has cannabis placed in both schedule I and II catagories in Iowa.) Using the cases you mentioned below and others Rev Carl tried to force the DEA to remove Marijuana from the Drug schedule since it no longer meets the requirements for schedule I, i.e. since Ca. legalized Medical Marijuana in 1996 that proves marijuana does have "A Recognized Accepted Medical Use in the U.S." The Iowa Pharmacy Board denied Rev Carl's petition to remove cannabis from the drug schedule due to federal law . Iowa blindly follows the feds to insure they will continue to get federal funds :cursing:. Rev Carl has been fighting for years to legalize marijuana and/or medical marijuana in Iowa. But it is next to impossible with people like Senior Sen Tom Harkin (D-IA) who, when asked by me, "Why medical marijuana is not legal in Iowa," replied in a standard "War On Drugs" form letter that, "If you smoke marihuana, you will find yourself huddled in a corner willing to sell your children for just one more puff of marihuana." Talk about a close minded person who's living in the past "Reefer Madness" generation. I am 55 and lumped in the "Baby Boomer" generation, my parents grew up in the "Reefer Madness" generation.
