DMV databases linked?

As far as I know, no the DMV databases are not linked, unless there is some new program or mandate that has been started since 9/11.
I do know that you need to be a resident to get an i.d. in any state, so that fact alone makes your original post completely false, unless you have some kind of unique never heard of before "dual state residency".
