    **HELP** BUNCH OF QUESTIONS **HELP**

Ok i will list all the growing questions i have and hopefully someone can answer me :rastasmoke:

    1. Is it bad to cut off fan leaves? i used to cut them maybe 1 inch from the stem of the plant and leave that little branch part there. i dont know why i am addicted to cutting them off but i am and i was just wondering if that can affect the plant, yield, or anything else

    2. i took some pics of my growroom and plants. im trying the LST technique and i was wondering if im doing it right and if my plants are developing at a normal pace. ive had them for about 3 weeks now from when they were 4-5 inch clones.

    3. is my lighting enough / too much? its maybe a 2.5'x2.5'x6' growroom and i am currently using (4) 40watt fluorescent bulbs about 3-4' long. and also a 120w growlight to concentrate on one plant and i switch plants so each plant gets more light than the others once every 4 days. is it good for veg? and will i need to change it for flowering if i want to produce huge yeilds.

    4. When i go into flowering, is there any techniques to force the plant to give off its maximum yield? lighting nutrients fresh air etc...

    5. Can i top the plant and also do the LST? or is it too much strain on the plant?

    6. btw please let me know if theres anything i can do to my room to make it for efficient.

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE TIME OUT TO HELP ME !!!

    1. The fan leaves are the plants nutrient storehouse. it's best to leave them be.

    2. Looks ok to me.

    3. Control your electrical cords, keep the lights as close to the plants as possible without burning 'em.

    4. If you start reading now, I'm sure you can find shitloads of flowering techniques. What lights are you going to use. (or what bulbs, if using the shop-fluorescents)

    5. Yes, you can top during LST. Just don't over-do it.

    6. The more you learn and understand...the better the possible oucome.
Seal all light leaks, give plenty of air circulation, vent the heat, keep 'em off the cold floor, get good nutes, don't let others know about your grow, and read, read, read.

The spot lights suck. I tried that along time ago.

    1. Yes, it is bad to cut fan leaves. Your plant stores energy it collects during the day in the big fan leaves, so it can use that energy to continue to grow at night. If you remove leaves, you take away energy storehouses, diminishing the energy your plant receives, reducing vigor and definitely reducing your yield. Leave the fans alone. :wtf:

    2. Your LST looks good. There's really no "correct" way to do it; there are many different configurations you can get by bending in different ways.
As long as you're not breaking your plant's stems/limbs, you're doing it right. LOL

    3. You can never have TOO much light... If you could keep the temperature in check, you could put 1000 watts in there.
In my opinion, you don't have enough light... I'd suggest a 250W or 400W HPS in an air-cooled hood & some CFL side lighting Your plants would be double the size they are now. You need "cool white" fluorescents in veg, "soft white" for flower... 6500K for veg, 2700K for flower.
Under the lighting you have now (and especially if you keep chopping fan leaves off), you won't be getting any "huge yield". ...
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Not saying you won't get SOME smoke, but don't expect poundage or even ounces. You need many more lumens to get that.

    4. The plant will only make what its environment allows it to make... Maximum lighting of the proper spectrum, optimal temperatures, good ventilation/circulation, and proper nutrition will all go far toward allowing your plants to produce to their full potential.
Anything less than optimal, and well... yield goes down.
That's the trick to growing for max yield... Getting everything dialed in.. :rastasmoke:

    5. What's your infatuation with cutting things off your plants? LOL
If you LST, you don't need to top... Your plants will get bushy all by themselves.
Sure you can, they're your plants. But why?

    6. Like I said.. strive for optimal conditions.
    MAXIMUM light intensity.
Try to maintain 75 degrees F with lights on... with low humidity.
Nice breeze blowing in the cabinet at all times for good air circulation.
Fans pulling fresh, cool air in, and fans sucking hot stale air out.
Proper pH levels of your nutrients... 5.8-6.2 for hydro, 6.5-6.8 for soil.
Good nutrients... None of that Miracle-Gro crapola. LOL

You'll get out only what you put in.
Hope I was helpful! Best of luck with your grow.

omg thank you! you freakin gave me everything i needed to know and moreee. but i had another question again, if i buy that 1000w hps light and keep the room cold enough how good will my yields be? and i stop cutting things off my plants

To be honest, I'm only speculating... But if you got the conditions in your cabinet dialed in properly, and you grew two 4ft tall plants, LST'd... you could easily yield a half pound in there, depending on the strain.... Some plants buds are denser & heavier than others.
Like I said, that's speculation and I'm not guaranteeing anything...
You've got a ways to go before you get yields like that.
    It is definitely possible though!

what about with my current lighting? 4x40watt (4feet long) fluorescent and 1 spotlight 120w growlight. how much would i yield if all 4 plants hit 4 feet

Any estimate right now is pure speculation. There's just no way to tell.
Not even going to venture a guess.
How much longer are you planning to veg them?

Shop light fixtures are great for young clones and seedlings, but keeping them within effective range of a mature plant can get tricky. A four foot plant, flowered with your shop lamp, will yield about the top 6" of plant, if the light is above the plants. All else will be too far away, and thusly have insufficient lighting. The problem I had with the side-light CFL lights, was that heat rises, and since you have to 'snug' them in to be effective, it can bake anything above it. (other branches, fan leaves)

Those spotlamps seem to give more heat than lumens, too. Not good for a closet grow. A 250w HPS would work much better, with some ventilation and air circulation inherently required. A 400w would be optimal, but it would come with a serious heat problem you'd have to look into solving, prior to purchase. Plus, you can veg with HPS if need be, or use one of those switchable ballast systems.

Your disappointments grow in direct proportion to your expectations...
...Yields are irrelevant. Results are relevant. (you'll find out yield, when you reach your first harvest at full maturity)

I'm trying to get them as big as possible. Is the yield affected by the size of the plaant? And hOw long should I keep growinng before I flower. Btw I ordered a 1000w light
