Well something is not right. You should be able to put the back side of your hand on the cool tube without it being uncomfortable.

You may see signs of heat stress at around 86-88 degrees and definitely around 90 degrees. I would pull it back. If you uncap your passive intake side of the cool tube you should have a very strong vacuum. If not then the air/radiant heat is sitting inside the cool tube too long and it's leaking out into your room.

I would choose temps over keeping the light close to the canopy. I'm sure others would agree with me but you may want to post this question in the plant problems forum just to be sure.

I would pull it back, or add stronger ventilation rather than leave it where it currently sits.
