Maybe I'm just not cut out for this...

Some people are good at growing cannabis. Some people are great at it. Then, sadly, there are people like me who can't grow a toe nail without something going wrong. I have 4 books, 2 dvds, and a computer with access to the best grow info on the web. And yet still, I have the worst luck of anybody I know. I spent nearly a month constructing a cabinet that hasn't produced anything more than some pathetic buds. Every grow attempt has turned out sickly looking plants that grow airy buds that taste awful. Theres got to be something I'm missing here. I tried cloning but as always I was unsuccessful getting 1 out of 13 to root. I try to replicate what I read in Stinky's post but I just can't get it right to save my life. Sorry to sound like a little whiny bitch but its very frustrating seeing everybody else's grow logs and how great their results are and I just want to bang my head against the wall every time I look at mine. Maybe Stinky and some of the other canna.com experts could start a cannacollege:thumbsup: I would enroll today! Or maybe I should go back to buying pot off the streets. Thanks for listening to me vent.

That's too bad. Hope you don't give up just yet. Give us a brief overview of how you treat the plant from start to finish. Including any elements involved in the grow (lights, temps, ferts, etc.)

I find that many people OVER care for their plants. By giving us some basic info as to how you treat your plants... we may be able to find your fatal flaw.

P.S. I am not an expert.... and I am learning too

Time to go back to the basics: good light, good soil, correct temps...good vibes.

    The KISS principle.

Don't feel bad dude... It took me almost 3 months to get a plant to make it past 4 weeks and almost 7 months to have my first successful harvest.

If we knew more of what problems you encountered maybe we could help you out.

fyi.. if you have a little bit of money to spend I might suggest coco to you. It seems very friendly for the first time grower provided that you supplement some calmag into your watering solution.

You have to spend money on coco specific nutes and calmag as well as quality coco (such as b'cuzz or canna) but Here are a list of pro's I've found so far that I posted in my grow log:

Coco is fantastic I have to say Here are some of the pros:

    * Impossible to overwater. Coco is very much like a sponge in that it will only absorb so much and then the rest will run off. Soil will retain moisture and water pockets, the properties of Coco just don't allow for this to happen. So water often, your medium will always maintain the perfect moisture conditions.
    * Coco is pretty inert. There is some buffering in there but it typically will take on the PH of whatever you water with. This makes it very convenient as you don't have to worry about measuring your run off so frequetly
    * Coco comes from the husks/shells of coconuts. It is completely free of soil pests and soil diseases.
    * Coco naturally provides more root aeration for plants... this really seems to grow faster due to this.
    * Coco loves to be in the same PH range as hydro. Which is great as the roots like to be in a slightly more acidic environment than soil or a soiless grow will allow.
In the last point I say it likes to be in the same ph range as hydro, it should also be noted that you could treat it like soil and your plants will still grow pretty good, it's just that 5.5-6.2 seems to be where Coco grows the best. This is awesome because being able to treat coco as either hydro or soil effectively increases the PH range you can use without killing your plants. So now you can go from 5.2-6.8 (not a great idea to fluxuate, but if you mess up a few times it won't kill ya).

Good luck to you on your next grow. :hippy:

You are probably jsut over-thinking it all.
Good air flow, good light, LIGHT soil, not TOO much love... Keep it up man. As for the toenails, I wish they WOULDN'T grow- what a bother!

Yeah the dutch has the right idea.KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid.
Start with a good quality soil is the most important thing. Back off the nutes. Any lights will do. Good ventilation and then just let the plant do its thing naturally. Get a good grow under your belt then change one thing at a time.

yup, keep it simple ... it's a WEED, has survived for centuries without man's help  ... in fact, I will go out on a limb here, and suggest about 90% of the 'problems' I see are over-indulgence ... growers use excellent, rich soil, and then pour the fertilizers to it :wtf: ... that's the point of the good soil, your plant should need very little ferts added to it ... once over-fertilized with one substance or another, it starts getting complicated, trying to undo what ya did in the first place ... (I grow great plants, because I'm too dumb and lazy to overdo it)

Hey thanks for the much needed words of encouragement! Well, I'm using a 400 hps with a MH conversion bulb right now for veg, hps bulb for flowering.
