For my Republicans Club at school I got to meet Senator Brownback (among others)
For my first Republican's club meeting we went from the Republican Headquarters to Seton Hill college to listen to and to meet Senator Brownback and a few other local government officials.
He is a conservative Republican, something I am not, however it was still really cool to meet him.
I asked him what his views on medical Marijuana were and unfortunately he said he wasn't for it because Marijuana is a gate-way drug.
I being the functional pothead that I am cut him off and told him if he looked online he would see hundreds of reports saying otherwise. He said that there were better medicines to cure sicknesses and such (I told him I was a cancer survivor and I know otherwise). But we did agree on the fact that it should be a state issue and not a federal one.
All sorts of people who worked for the various politicians there were taking pictures of the other Republican club members, John and me for their websites. I got to take a picture with Sen. Brownback with my phone (yes the quality is lacking).
Overall this was fun, even though I didn't agree with everything he said it was still nice to talk to all the politicians.
(Oh and I am on the volunteer list for McCain/Palin and when they come to my area I will get to meet them!)
Here's his site:

Sounds like you had a substantive talk with him --- good job!
If I had met him, I probably would have wasted my chance to talk substance by asking him if his back is really brown.

That's cool.
Speaking of Kansas politicians, I got to meet Kathleen Sebelius not too long ago. I'm not going to post the picture of me with her, because I've posted confirmed evidence of my marijuana-growing capability, but suffice to say, it was pretty cool, and she was a really good speaker. It was at an Obama event.

That's awsome Khronik

I feel like a nerd but I get more excited meeting politicians than celebs (and I've met a few of those too). I get all giddy and shit haha.
I tried to get as much as my medical marijuana message out as I could in those few minutes. I think I may print out a few links and studies so that next time I run into a politician I can give them the sheets along with my 2 cents.

How exciting rebgirl--It is an exciting time to be in college during elections! Sure it was and will continue to be a gas. I guess, next year, you'll be taking political science--that will be a very interesting class for you! I was fortunate to hit mine during an election year. It is exciting and eye opening!

Lol the gateway theory has been disproven, i wonder if he though alcohol was a gateway drug, or tobacco, or only cannabis? Good for you though Reb, i think you're awesome for talking to him about that, i doubt he was expecting it. Politics and debating our values is very interesting, i would love to 'make a difference', perhaps one day all of us can somehow in our own way. I need to run for the leader of the lib dems one day here in the UK and fix some of this shit. Heh, i'm a dreamer, i should lay off the herb, or smoke some more :stoned:

u seriously make me feel a lil better and more hopeful about our generation girl... way to go! especially being a young lady who is interested in politics @ such a level... most girls in your situation rather gossip about others and follow what they learn from celebs like brti. spears or that chick paris! and run away/close their eyes & ears on politics!
