I have recently acquired a Sun System® Gro Pro™ Remote Ballasts and have a few questions:

Do you have to buy their socket and cord, or can you just wire your own 5v mogul socket?

Do you have to run 600W bulbs or can you run lower? I have some older ones lying around.

Is it worth it to buy two 600w MH conversion bulbs and two 600w HPS or can i get away with two higher quality HPS (Osram Sylvania 600 Plantastar)? Will i experience much stretching with just the HPS?

Has anyone ever used polycarb in place of the glass on the lamp fixtures? Does filter the light more then glass? Will it melt?
