    haaaaaa!!!!

good to hear u r ok.

    just an idea:
u can use a fruit/produce box which is open on 2 of the 6 sides (front and top)
add larger pieces of cardboard like used shipping boxes, etc to this box for accommodating your plants' heights and cover all around it inside the box with aluminum foil. place the plants in the box(es) directly in front of the largest window u can find... it will be indirect light i know, but it may work.

also i really dont think its safe these days to go outdoors, even if u think its stealth... since all of these wires n stuff are down, u never know which repair crew will go to/pass thru which stealth location to find access to a down/disconnected line

generators? damn gas is out as well and expensive if available!
but maybe if u have 1 gen or can buy one, u can run CFLs for a good while on that thing without refueling

    anything is better than darkness!!!

also my neighboris have power reconnected now and thats cypress area, maybe u can find some1 in that area who can take care of them for a few days... ofcourse some1 truly trusted which is hard to come by these days

if i had my own place and if i wasnt out of town I would have offered help [i know u dont know me and i dont know u, but still i wouldnt mind]

hope they dont die and ur power gets connected soon!

    Hurricane Ike, R U affected?

not a good news at all
Texas law keeps rebuilding after Ike in limbo - CNN.com

i certainly would be mad as hell if they wanted to take my property for any reason, let alone without any compensation at all...

especially now... and especially if my house was unharmed and standing there

how come since 1960 the state has not done shit about this, they have been waiting for mother natures moment to seize the opportunity??? and NOW, RIGHT NOW they wanna do it?

1st of all who is to tell ppl where they cant build a house, in many other countries ppl make buildings in death zones, but with enough strength to withstand mother natures wrath... Japan and eastern asia have constant earthquakes that hardly have any casualties, they have typhoons but they dont build their structures from WOOD & ROCKSHEETS right by the sea!

its called reinforced concrete folks, if i had the money and i wanted to build on such a location i would use it and i would certainly protest the law thru courts
