i evacuated by noon yesterday, to dallas it was less than 5 hours which to my surprisingly very good!!!

my worst nightmare was to get stuck in that weather without electricity and internet. i'm nuts about tornados and there is just no way to predict them or dodge them in such a situation...

i just cant stand all the fear lol my heart will fail and i will be counted as another statistic cuz i will have thc in my system when they do the autopsy dont wanna help the bastards back their crap up...:P

Holy Crap! Do you know something I don't know? I don't live anywhere near this storm and I'm certainly not going to go any closer! I think maybe you Daihashi...

Good luck to everyone who is near this storm!

I've never seen a report that described "Certain Death" for anyone who stayed in the storm surge area before. That is what they are describing for parts of Galvaston --- certain death. So if you are in an area like that, get the hell out.

Stay safe everyone, and best of wishes for you, your friends and family, and your homes and property!

There's a freighter with engine failure in the path. It has 22 people on board, and it's too risky for any rescue --- they have to ride it out adrift. That is real bad news. Ships need to have power to maintain steerage and keep oriented into the waves and wind. Without steerage, they go sideways and get capsized. Good luck to all aboard.

One thing that always irritates me about the coverage of hurricanes is that they describe the storm surge as a "wall of water." It's not a wall of water. That makes it sound like some kind of tsunami that comes all in one big wave. Storm surge is a lot more like a very high tide, mixed with big waves and driving wind, that forces more and more water farther inland until it piles up into a big flood. One wave comes in and raises the level a few inches, then before it backs out another comes, and another, and another... Eventually you have 20 feet of water. But it doesn't come all in one big 20-foot-tall "wall of water" crashing ashore. Not to take anything away from it --- it's still incredibly dangerous. But it's not a damn tidal wave.
