This was the one segment I most wanted to see.

I think Obama did a good job on this one. He has devoted his life to working on solving problems for people, and any time you get involved with groups with a PURPOSE, you are going to have some extreme elements mixed in with the more moderate ones.

I know that is defnitiely true in my own experience. I've done work with environemental groups who were 99% composed of people who just have a concern for their environemnt and want to get something done about it in a peaceful and constructive way. But there are always a few nutjob radicals in the mix as well. It sucks when you get stuck with the guilt by association to someone who you really have nothing in common with at all. Does that mean you should abandon the work you want to do just because some wacko also supports the same cause?

I think Obama made a good point that he would not slam O'Reilly with the guilt by association to all the irrational nutjobs that Fox news has given voice to, if O'Reilly would not slam him for assocaition to Daily Kos. It's a valid point. Everyone can be "linked" to people they disgree with through flimsy "associations."
