Obama: Bridge to nowhere and Katrina

Now that Alaska is front and center in the news again, it is a good time to catch up on a favorite story, The Bridge to Nowhere, using the Washington Post US Congress Votes Database.

Though Gov. Palin originally supported the earmark spending on the Ketchikan bridge (â??to nowhere), she eventually killed the project, chosing to spend Federal money on other infrasturcture programs.

However, Sen. Biden and Sen. Obama voted for funding the Bridge, even when given a second chance by Sen. Tom Coburn, who proposed shifting earmark funds to Katrina relief.

Sen. McCain did not vote on the Coburn Amendment, though he is on record as opposing the Ketchikan bridge earmark.
Chicago Daily Observer | Obama and Biden Voted for Bridge to Nowhere

Lets see here now; Obama bashes the right for the handling of Katrina and also bashes Palin for her stance on the "bridge to nowhere" but where did he stand? Screw the people of New Orleans, build the bridge stated the votes of Obama and Biden! CHANGE you can believe in!!

This is a topic you'd think that both of the Dem candidates would try to avoid at all cost.

    Have a good one!:s4:

Obama: Bridge to nowhere and Katrina

The Obama campaign's point was that Palin lied through her teeth about her stance on the bridge. To be fair, there is a pretty big airport on that island, and a lot of people do travel to and from it, but I agree it would have been a waste of money.

15-82 was the vote on that amendment with more republicans voting against it than democrats. Yeah Obama did vote against the amendment but he shouldn't be so chasitised about it considering the amount of vote who voted against it. McCain didn't bother to vote on that amendment.

But he did vote in another amendment:

As you can see, McCain voted for an earmark, then didn't bother to vote amendment 2165 and didn't bother to vote on bill HR 3058. Ted Stevens is the biggest hypocrit of them all being the author of amendment 2165.
