    America The Great

America has a social system that allows freedom.

You eather choose to conform and be a part of the system or fight it.

Why fight the system, why not live in it happily and use it to your own good.

We dont have to flaunt our marijuana usage.

Europe is nice to go to but everything is in the USA.

Our laws that we look at are to take the edge off of freedom, you cant have a FREE to do WHATEVER country, that would result in more chaos then there is now.

Our country is full of loop holes, freedom of speech, freedom to to a lot.

I don't understand why people must be so rebelious when things are so much easier when you go with the flow.

Follow some simple laws and you golden, fight them and your done.

**This is coming from an activist and a true stone cold rastafarian**

    *Work with what you got*

Others thoughts on our country. :rastasmoke:

Please no random commentation that makes no sence. Or that is very self-centered and ignorant.

    Also war and presidency.

We must have a strong military based leader, especially when we are such a strong world power.

Such as peace is seen for a weakness.

We don't want to have a peaceful trusting person in charge when you have a group that dosn't care how you are, they want to kill/attack you anyways.

for the most part I aggree with you, while I would rather marijuana was legal, it is much easier to just follow the law and do what your suposed to.
I dont understand kids that smoke pot and immediatly because its against the law, they hate cops and hate the government and all these other things. Ive been smoking for close to 4 years now and admit I have had my run ins with the law, but when you have a family member die of OD, youll appreciate the police that arrest these god damned pill dealers.

I dont have a big problem with any drug really. I understand most of them, but herroin and pills are retarted. I sy smok em da herb and find peace within. :rastasmoke:

We have to fight the system because the system fights us. We may not flaunt our cannabis, but you don't have to flaunt it to be arrested for it.

I do agree with you though, for the most part the USA is great. Too bad our economy is so set up so ass-backwards that it kills the freedoms we should have, but still don't.

Its like that in a negative view, you can do whatever you want, theirs others already doing things in a positive view. Their successful. Use the system to your own personal advantage, make it work for you.

Our system was designed to be user-adaptable. Working WITHIN a functional Democracy is more effective than flailing around trying to change it from outside. Write your Congressman!

Now, the question is: Is our democracy functioning correctly as it is?

I agree with Stinky, working within the system for change is what this great country is about. We (Americans) are not the same as we were two hundred years ago..and we will have even more different problems and blessings two hundred years into the future.
Change is a definate, so we must vote and keep working toward what is best for us all.
With the ease of contacting your Congressmen now, I would hope they get thousands of emails every day. I email mine the first of every month letting them know I support change in the Federal laws against Mj. They have a pat reply, but at least they know where I, as a voter, stands.

** my fault, a very long post, but this topic and another post that was made the other day have really got me thinking and i wanna put my arguement out there.... dont read if u r not a savvy reader/debater**

***this may sound like one of those selfish posts, but it really is not.***

This is a great country indeed. I have reasons for it: the foundation of the country is almost the best in the world: the constitution, but the way country is run these days may not follow that constitution all that accurately. u may hear arguments that times change and so should we, i will have to partially agree with that. however our essential rights shall remain the same.

i know and u know that money talks these days, and in fact money has far more influence on government and congress than people's opinion or votes
its just how it works nowadays, now the most important part of constitution for the masses should be the bill of rights and if the masses want to protect that from being altered or ignored we must hold our influence on government, and whats the best way to do it in our country? Lobby and interest groups.
sure writing letters to people helps, no doubt, the effect and outcome is what counts and interest groups do a far more effective jobs than letters.

here is my idea, bear with me for a few moments and truly use your logic when responding, i will have to admit i hate propagandist ideas, use YOUR brain:

How many of u have done enough in your life other than paying your taxes and being born in America to claim u deserve this country or freedom and prosperity (no matter how half-assed it may be to u, its still better than living in a 3rd world country isnt it?) within it. almost all countries charge taxes to their citizens, thats no basis for deserving true freedom!!!! from old dictatorship kingdoms to countries of 3rd world, taxes have been and are being charged! it only entitles u to mere citizenship of that country or shall i say society, otherwise u go to jail or abroad.

I find it fundamentally a defunct defense/argue line when people talk about losing jobs to illiterate illegal immigrants and blame them and government for not effectively preventing them to come into the country. why? cuz that only means they were doing a job that an illiterate undocumented immigrant could do too.

this IS a globalized world, and i think its easier for an individual to achieve personal financial [this translates to many more other types of success as well] success than to try to change the world back to good ol' times!

Why i say this? tell me, how many of you actually know rich people who have their freedoms taken or who have serious issues as some of us do with our system? They live a comfortable life, their money can do most of what we only dream of, even if they get a million dollar bond for whatever crime, they can afford to pay for it... i know its not too fair or just, but hey this is the system, money talks, sadly or happily, whether we like it or not, thats part of American capitalism, get it?! u either can embrace an idea wholly or u r embracing something different than that idea if u dont agree with all of it. now capitalism includes this materialism clause and u should get it! if u dont, then your understanding of capitalism is flawed. thats whats going on now and its really goin to be tough to try to change it, almost impossible!
so if u like capitalism, try to cope with it, try to fulfill the requirements, remember Japanese lost everything in WW II but they used their brains along with their hard work and look @ where they are now, so did the Germans. Plus, they both literally copied our principles of capitalism to their countries' systems. u should guess where Japan stands in means of economics and social position and as for Germany, it is #1 economy in Euro zone. we must wonder how and why and learn from them as they did from us. we, the Americans are not guaranteed to have the American dream or to rule the world or to hold on to the largest economy forever, if we do not learn from our mistakes and improve ourselves with times

    another take @ it:
look @ celebrities [im not endorsing their lifestyle or what they do] they literally do what they want without much care, dont they? i mean almost all Hollywood smokes weed!!! or for that matter find one music star that doesnt or has not smoked weed, even the most conservative country singers have done it and continue to do it, without a care for its illegality and some have even used their cash to push for better laws and regulations perhaps, or have used their artistic work for that matter.

money does talk and solve many problems, sure not all problems. but many of what the average citizens' call problems.

just for a moment, stay with me, imagine you are snoop doggy dog, if u were him would really care if weed was illegal or if government was on your ass on wiretap for whatever reason? or if u r a felon who cant vote?
i mean the guy has felonies on his record and he still gets caught once in a while with weapon and drugs on him in airports and elsewhere and he manages to live a better life than most of us wish to:rastasmoke: and he can make one song that will have more impact that he could ever have with 1 single vote

many people say, I'm a hard working citizen, i pay taxes, etc... true, u get what u pay for. if u r uneducated, and u have preferred from day 1 of your life to live for the moment without much of planning u will forever live in the moment and will just have to deal with problems of the moment....

1920s and 1960s are long gone, prosperous times when a factory worker would live a happy life are just over, get it? thats the harsh fact of life, times have changed and there is little to nothing we can do to change it back

All i can think of to do to truly and fully enjoy this country is to be at least a step ahead of the average crowd, when most people have debt, i wanna be able to pay off my debt and have some good savings. look @ immigrants, i see many indian/pakistanis /asians around here who are far more successful than many born-americans, why? [given most of u probably see them in gas stations only but hey, check the IT industry too]

because they knew the harsh reality of the world from their native countries, they knew they must aim for best to get at least a normal happy life. they are "skilled workers" why do we still in 2008 have them coming in, in scores?

because we lack skilled workers, i mean come on, 300 million of us here and we still need skilled workers... true, some companies only hire those foreigners for cost savings, but i really mean it, if u r qualified to live a decent life, no matter what happens to u, u will find ur way to live that decent life. unless we are all in a "depression like" situation which is a rare exception. u just gotta keep using your brain, u cant expect to safely remain on payroll forever these days, all it takes is 1 economic downturn or any other problems in your life to have u at edge of unemployment and homlessness, divorce, and many other problems, so that means, have savings, know economics or have investments, do more than enough for your life. if u dont get this very simple principle u r living an empty dream, that kinda dream has long been over for Americans, and also given the fact that our social security and welfare systems are also failing slowly, the next generation will go thru a disaster if we keep the old ways of thinking

My mom used to say: "always put your eggs in more than 1 or 2 baskets, that way if one basket falls, u wont lose all of your eggs"

how many of us truly follow that, we are more pre-occupied with living a happy and good life that we totally dont see the true way towards it. most people drop out of HS and college and expect to live a good life, like their parents did in the good ol times... aint gonna happen!!!

if all of us used our brains we would be like Japan, we would actually want to export our expertise, cuz we would have excess amount of skilled people around.

but i guess we want our joints, beers, cars, tv shows and sex more than a true good life; so that we cant afford to sacrifice and work super hard for a few years to get a decent education, to truly be able 2 enjoy the fruits afterwards

a more simple translation: if u r a smart stoner, u will grow [assuming u r safe and cautious enough not to get caught] and u can ask any grower, they tell u how good it feels when u smoke your own harvest. now, u can give into temptation and spend your 20 dollars per gram every week or day or whatever and do not save, or u can quit smoking for a few months, save and start a system... see my point? its all simple principles of investment and return on investment, the trade off is certain, its worthiness is up to your thinking.

dont get me wrong, im not looking down upon people, some people do live the average lifestyle and enjoy it, all im saying is if u have not tried to be on top then u cant influence the top people deciding for u with their power of money [call them corporations] that is how the system works and i know its called corruption to some people, but get the facts! trying to engage those in position of money-power is very hard when u hardly have any back up but your word, u must truly have a justified and good cause and important complaint like the messed up segregation on blacks earlier in our history... that was good enough of a cause to finally influence our power positions in the system without much monetary backup, however, then look @ the leaders of such movements, they all had decent education!! they all had formed their world views with something more than just mainstream media or church or what they were fed as kids or grown up kiddy minds.
and remember that movement TOOK YEARS to give results.

bottom line: this is a great country and i find it far more free than many other states, and sure there are problems, all countries have their own type of problems, ALL COUNTRIES, no exceptions! some freedoms are taken away or are limited @ this time, ok plz understand we are @ war, maybe an unjustified war, but u know what could have prevented all this? Education and open mindedness, if we all truly had the world view u get in college, earlier in our history of 20th century, our political system wouldnt be this way, it would have gone the way it has gone to fail us regularly. this is the result of lack of participation by the people for the people, lack of educated decisions. cuz they were too happy and busy making a normal living to care about whats goin on in politics, the daddy govt was takin care of it so they could live the happy childish life

just check the stats and see how much of American wealth is in hands of the top X % of the country's population. some of them maybe corrupt people who got unjustified money for themselves. but i would argue most likely they are educated people, those who learned the system. given, some took advantage of the poor and uneducated crowd and some took advantage of the system's own loopholes to get where they are, but still it didnt come free for them either.

American dream is not going to be handed out as a welfare item anymore, in 1800s, 1900s maybe hard work was enough to reach it. nowadays u cant choose what u like to do as a career if it doesnt make enough money for u and complain later in life that what is this that i got...

im not saying necessarily the system works just fine, no. but im sayin one should always see the facts and take them into account. I always loved being a chef, from age 9 i cooked @ home as a boy! and i mean i cooked, more than just making a damn turkey sandwich. i even got an accredited international cooking degree from a Scottish university @ age 17 which could land me at any job in any restaurant or hotel i chose even outside of my home country given the immigration policies was open-border type, but im in college in america studying a totally irrelevant major, why? cuz i know i will need large money b4 i can truly live happy in this world, b4 i can truly take care of my problems. I will need the money-power to influence the government or any other person for what i want. when i have money, i can go follow the love of my life whatever that maybe and be able to easierly (!!!) afford the consequences if there are any [like smoking weed - or w/o consequences, open up my own restaurant/hotel etc]

all that said, i dont wanna turn out to be one of those hypocritical jerks who once get their own lives fixed, 4get about other people's struggles, however I want to help people where help is truly needed, education is the key to success of a nation. A more educated and wealthier nation can argue a whole lot better against an inflated controlling government and limited freedoms, cuz they will have more to back themselves up in front of the wealthy elite. Lobby groups exist all over the modern world, its u who can choose to or not to take care of them, ro for that matter take advantage of them. and money is the key to their influence, we all know it.

u only need to go find out about unemployment rates of countries around the world, their debt per capita and their education's stats, usually people of those countries can control their government's policies easier and wont fall all that easily a fool on politicians "promises" without holding them accountable.

harsher fact is, history tells us no matter what the system, the rich rule the poor, and if the poor for whatever reason decide to remain poor, then if we get some shady selfish rich ppl in power or behind the system, this will be the result: injustices that the poor will have a very hard time with to cope and a harder time to change.

appreciate what u r given b4 its taken from u, and utilize your options, we have the best universities of the world in our country, why should they be filled with better performing foreigners on scholarships? we have a political system in which THERE ARE WAYS to reach your goal, learn the system! EXHAUST ALL THATS available to u and then complain if u didnt get at least some partial satisfaction.

freedoms will be a lot easier to achieve or defend when u have more knowledge and more money to push for them, i doubt any1 can argue against this idea.

ill be glad to have u guys and girls share your opinions on this topic, it will always be helpful to know what others think.
    btw thnx 4 readin

As nobody wants to be imprisioned or killed, the so-called "choice" is not a true choice, but only a fallacy... and so the freedom is only illusory.

Freedom to do only the things allowed by the system. But who said that the system must be our God and decide what we can or cant do? The system should be made for the people, and not the people for the system, as it is these days.

For anyone who, like me, disagree with the original post and prefers the rebellion than the conformism, i STRONGLY recommend reading this:

Cause if the system keeps going the way it is, soon we will living exactly as described in the book Brave New World... what, for me, is the worst thing that would happen... i would prefer the Earths destruction by a meteor than this...
