Pruning Question?

How much pruning of the lower leaves and stems do you prune before putting into flower?

And would one prune a plant more on the inside (making it less dense)before putting into flower?

Personally...I don't remove anything till it's dead, and just hanging there. But it depends on the technique you are going to use. If you're not doing a Screen of Green, I'd leave the foliage alone.
When the plant is done with any particular leaf or underbranch...she'll let you know. If you remove it before she's done with it...she'll take a 'time-out' to heal, delaying the cycle. :thumbsup:

I never remove leaves. But I DO remove entire stems righ tbefore flower. Anything that is heavily shaded and therefore weak, soft, and spindly, or thin and scruffy with stunty growth, gets cut off. You are correct to thin the CENTER of the plant; this is a traditional goal of pruning in horticulture. What it does is allow the plant more air flow to the center, reducing chances of rot or other disease, and it also forces the plant to concentrate on the prime, high-value main colas which are already vigorous.
For an extreme example, google the term 'pistilwhipt technique'. I don't go THAT far, but pretty close!
