QF 4.0 vs. 4.2? Temperature strip accuracy?
Hello, my name is Steve, and this is my first post after several months of "lurking". I've looked through the substitution sticky and I appreciate all the advice that everyone has posted.
I have a test coming up, and a few months ago I purchased some QuickFix 4.0. I've noticed that there is now a 4.2, and I have seen people recommend switching to 4.0 if they have 3.0, but not so much about the difference between 4.0 and 4.2. The only thing I could really find is that 4.2 is less proven than 4.0, obviously because is it newer. Just wondering if anyone knows specifically what the difference is between the two? I am also assuming the majority of people are still using 4.0 successfully?
My other question is about the temp. strip on the bottle. I've seen a few people post that the strip is off. Just wondering if anyone knows if it reads higher or lower than the actual temp, and by how much? Ya, I know, get a digital thermometer. I am really low on money and I have to take this mediocre job to pay back loans for the degree that I'm not even using, so the digi isn't really an option.
Any help that you guys can give me is appreciated. I'll try to make a post about my experience with QF as the date approaches. I'm practicing with bottle under my balls as we speak, enjoy that mental image.sizzle2008 Reviewed by sizzle2008 on . QF 4.0 vs. 4.2? Temperature strip accuracy? QF 4.0 vs. 4.2? Temperature strip accuracy?
Unless you are taking a cheap instant screen only with no type of validity check whatsoever, Do not use Quick Fix 3.0! Spectrum Labs has recalled the 3.0 in Dec 2003, replacing with the 4.0 formula. If you still have 3.0, Spectrum can swap it out for the current formula FOC.
On Feb 2008, Spectrum has extended the recall to QF 4.0 with batch numbers ending in 03 thru 05. These were early 4.0 batches made between 2003 to 2005, but a suprising amount of these batches are still in circulation. If your 4.0 carries these batch numbers, Spectrum can also swap these out.
Later QF 4.0s with batch numbers ending in 06 and later are still good at this time.
Spectrum still hasnt officially included the QF 4.2 on their online product list. But Ive noticed detoxforless website recently began advertising the 4.2.To view the Board Rules: http://boards.cannabis.com/introduce...ard-rules.html

I did call spectrum labs once and their official reason for the 4.2 version was they had to reword something on the box for legal reasons. I don't know how true it is but that's their on the record response.

QF 4.0 vs. 4.2? Temperature strip accuracy?
Hi Steve,
I used QF 4.0 in June and passed with flying colors (LabCorp). I still have 2 bottles of 4.0 and plan to use them if I have to. If I have no tests for another year or so, I probably will invest in 4.2... since I think 2 years is a good estimate for shelf life.
I got one of those child temp strips for about $2-$3 at Walgreens. I would practice with the QF (actually practiced with water) and pour it into a small plastic cup and then test the temp with the temp strip by wrapping it around the cup. The temp strip on my bottle of QF was close to being accurate. By pouring the sample in the cup, it loses temperature (cold cup, hitting the air, etc)... so you should expect that.
When I handed the sample to the tech, it was around 96 degrees. PERFECT! Of course, I held the sample where you guys can't, so its good that you are practicing. Figure out how long the temp will stay while under your balls (oh the mental image!) and if it drops too low, read more about hand warmers and other methods to help it keeps its temp.
Good luck!

QF 4.0 vs. 4.2? Temperature strip accuracy?
The most important temp strip is the one on the UA collection cup. If you end up a little off remember you can blow on it to get the temp down and if its a little low you can rub your thumb against your jeans and hold it to the strip for a few seconds to get the temp up.

QF 4.0 vs. 4.2? Temperature strip accuracy?
Thanks for the info everyone. I checked my batch number on my QF 4.0 and and it ends in 08, so I think it's good to go. I'm still a little worried about keeping it the right temp. I do have a warmer but I am not going to open it until the day of the test. I think I just have the first time jitters. No matter how many people say it works, it's like I can't believe it until I try it.
