I'd say that the "jokes" are the ones that don't vote. I'd rather cast a vote for one evil over the other than to sit at home with a finger up my backside.

I also find myself in the strange position of actually agreeing with P4B on something. This is so wierd. I'm agreeing with P4B and watching O'Reilly Factor. Do I have a chip in my brain?

Well, one thing about "McCain and Palin Surge Into the Lead" --- there's been a lot of debate about whether the "surge" in Iraq has worked, but I'm pretty sure this "surge" in the polls won't work.

I am probably going to vote (for Obama, of course), but I am almost tempted to sit this one out, and just watch what happens. I view this election as a test of America. If McCain and Palin win, and America actually wants to elect more of the same after the God-Awful past 8 years, then I will consider the people of this country a lost cause, and will move to Canada. It really makes me feel good, because regardless, I won't have to deal with McCain.

disagreeing on not having to deal with McCain, u r talking about president of the US, even taliban and people in the most remote areas of arctic have to deal with this position directly or indirectly

ps. canada's current government is qite conservative and the pm has just dissolved their parliament to have early elections and to boost his party's majority

use the top of the page navigation to get to different sections, most polls go with about +2% for mccain in the same period that this poll was taken!

and check the history of the polls as well, foxnews polls and usatoday's polls generally tend not to agree with other polls, donno why!

I've thought about voting...but since the so called "election" has been turned into a contest between some patsy for the democrats and another for the republicans, I find no point in wasting any time participating in such a phoney excuse of freedom. Plus sitting here with my finger up my backside feels great and gives me at least a miniscule sense of accomplisment.

I know that polls can sway one way or another but with the love of Bush that's been going on for the last 4 years, you'd think that Obama would have been destroying him in every poll. Nice to see the U.S. voter opening up their eyes about the "chosen one".

I'm damn sure not opening my eyes to that sonofabitch...He's not sending me overseas in the 'war on terror.' I'd rather defend MY country, which is why I'm not voting for him.

And also, the person he's going against is a black man that's going to change change change things. I sure wish the media would've decided a couple of better candidates for us..

I find it very unlikely I'm going to even vote...Not to mention I'm still registered to vote where I used to live so I'd have to drive 70 miles...and I'm not driving that far to write a name in that wont be counted anyways..

for miss America we vote from 50 women...Why do we only get two politicians to choose from..? Because then the 'right' people wouldn't get elected?? Or because someone like Ron Paul might get elected and shrink the size of the government and solve most of the problems we're facing?

I SHOULDN'T have to choose a trip into god knows what's going to happen..(likely assassination), or me and likely my children being condemned to serve for another country, and for corporate interest in a war that makes no fucking sense..

Just go register where you live now! For god's sake, it has to be a shorter drive than 70 miles!
Let me just throw this out there for you.
You remember Bill Clinton right?
You remember how many terrorist attacks happened to us on his watch?
You remember how he handled that?
Do you suppose that if we had a real leader at the time as opposed to him, that despite the fact we may have gotten involved in a conflict, it may have prevented 9/11, the Iraq War, the War in Afghanistan?
This is all hypothetical of course. Just something to ponder.
What would happen if Obama were president?
Diplomacy for 4 years? Maybe 8?
Then what?
Another conflict, maybe really brutal, long, drawn out conflict? Maybe something that would make what is going on now look like a boy scout camp out. This time maybe with Iran, or N. Korea, or Venezuela, or China, or All of Them at the same time?
I bet they would all love nothing more than 8 years of American diplomacy, plenty of time to figure out a new wonderful way to destroy us.

Im sure those surges are just the excitment building over Palin by the mindless masses. Intelligent voters would never want to see her as the leader of the free world. I'd honestley rather keep bush than see her as commander and chief. We all know McCain isn't going to last long.

The democrats are putting someone on their #1 spot who has very little experience and someone on their #2 spot with the experience. That seems a bit backwards don't you think?

Palin isn't running for leader of the free world. McCain and Obama are.

Your local officials usually have a lot more to do with things that really directly affect your life than the national elections. Also, Markass, I know you think third-party candidates should have a better shot than they do in the current system --- well, third-party candiddates DO get a good shot in local elections. I've seen a lot of third-party candidates win seats on city councils, county boards of supervisors, and other local offices.

I agree with Kush that people who do not vote forfeit their right to bitch and moan. If you arent't going to even spend a few minutes to make your choice official, even if it is for a third-party or a write-in, then you can just shut the hell up for the rest of the time. Registering in your new address is the easiest thing in the world. And voting takes maybe 15 minutes. If you don't care enough to even go through that tiny effort, then you really don't care enough for me or anyone else to bother to consider your opinion. Take a real stand or shut up.

I know a lot of people are pissed off about the fact that our system gives power to two parties and excludes the rest. I don't like it either. But let's face reality and deal with it. Nothing in our Constitution REQUIRES a two-party system --- it is not the LAW that their only be two parties. But the way the Constitution defines how elections are run, the two-party system naturally occurs. It's part of the game theory of how an election is won under our Constitution --- if you are going to win, you need to be big enough to get a majority (or really a plurality) of the vote. In order to have a system that allows third parties to really have a part in government, you need a parliamentary system, and that would require a major rewrite and lots of amendments to the Constitution. You can start fighting for that now, which is a real longshot, or you can just accept what we have and work within the system to see the changes you want.

Whatever you do, don't just sit on the sidelines bitching.

I thought the same thing. She is a fossil, but she is spry! She's even been in a few ads I think, and she definitely spoke in some of the films shown at the convention. But I wonder if she has ever had any cancer. McCain has had multiple melanoma skin cancers removed from his skin. If his mother has never had anything similar at her age, McCain may not have got all the longevity genes his Mom has.

Melanoma is nasty. I'm pretty sure melanoma is what is going to take me in the end, given my "pinkish hue," and the number of really bad sunburns I had as a kid, and the fact that my Dad recently had one removed. It'll either be melanoma, or I'll die during sex --- I know which one I'm rooting for.
