Yes sir. MH's
I figured for the vegging that both were overkill, (at least that's what I kept telling myself after I stopped running both, good to get an expert opinion too, makes me feel tons better about cutting the second one out!)but looking ahead to flower, that's when I would like to use both 400 watt lamps, with the HPS's. I just keep agonizing in my mind over how I will get the temps down, and trying to rationalize whether or not it would be worth it.
If I have to keep the lights higher than desired, then I will have stretching, too low, heat stress, so I dunno. That's why I want to figure out now how to get the temps down.
Down the road, once I get past this first run and into flowering, I probably won't be using the MH's for anything. The nursery behind the panda plastic wall, will have some cheapo t12 lights, one, maybe 2 to run moms and clones, but like I said, I really want to run as much as possible with the HPS. I just don't want to get into a situation where I am hitting a point of diminishing returns if I have to compensate for the heat in some way. I know what the best solution is, but I don't have the cash on hand now to get a larger wattage, sealed, air cooled hood and new ballast to push it.
My local hydro shop does have the air cooled hoods, they already have sockets, but they are set up for digital ballasts, and both my 400 watts are the old style, with the cords hard wired to them. So I don't know if splicing is even an option, I am thinking not. I am not sure if I would be able to get my current sockets in the hoods either, and I don't want to buy one and then find out I can't!
I have been keeping an eye on craigslist. But I hate to go buy anything off their, then have to go to some weirdo's house that I don't know, ect....
I could just run my flowering with just 1 400 watter, and keep the other handy for backup. But I would rather get both of them running, the coverage for 1 isn't that great for the table I have, but 2 will get the job done.
As for the "whiteness", I dunno? But yeah they are MH's. It may be all the panda plastic? I have the tray underneath my table, it's pp, and pp all over the floor, of course the walls are just flat white, so maybe it's just the light reflecting alot, or my camera, or the way I took the pictures? Now that you say that, the pics do look really white, in the room it doesn't seem that white when you are in there, but I agree, those do look really white.
Thanks for the input! Keep it coming! Anything, any little thing at all, no matter what, as this log grows, be sure to let me know. I want to fine tune everything as much as possible, don't want any air buds, I need nice tight, dense nugs!
My last run, I finished 2 plants and got 4 oz, it was so bad, and I am so spoiled I guess, that I just turned it all into QWISO, I couldn't stand burning the flowers! I don't ever want that to happen again. On the bright side, I learned tons from it, and I know I won't be making those mistakes again, but hopefully now, with your help and the help of the other green thumbs here, I won't make too many new mistakes either! That's what I am hoping anyway! I have some high expectations for this round, and the rounds to follow, luck is not an option for me!
