That's an interesting prospect.

Right now I am going for Dental Assisting but my actual Dental classes don't start until next fall. Now I'm taking the pre-requisite classes (Biology, Psych, Writing, and math).

I just want to do something where I feel fulfilled. I have the grades and smarts to do anything it's just that I'm broke and I had to pick a course where I could graduate and immediently start a job.

I think that's a good choice. That's something that will open up doors for jobs and earning good money, and if the political interest is there you can always get involved and see if doors open up for that along the way. I'm a big advocate of picking a degree or major out of "practicality" versus just pure interest.

I mean, if I picked a major purely out of interest, then I would've done parks and recreation (because I love backpacking, climbing, and camping). However, I would've been in the poor house with that degree... sometimes you just have to plow your fields and get paid. That's the way I see it, at least.

That's not to say you don't have to at least have some interest in your major, but I don't think whether or not your interested in it is to be the only consideration.

You make a good point. I think maybe Wednesday when I go back to class I'll stop by the student development office and maybe just talk with an adviser about my political ideas.

Maybe she/he can hammer out the details for me.

But Remember, the Republican tent may be big, but not so big that it's the kind of place you want to casually spark up a joint. So be sure you feel out your fellow Young Republicans on the subject before you offer to share any of your Libertarian smoke with them!
